Still Crashing when Loading - POST PATCH

So, after the patch I noticed that Im still crashing when trying to load games. It actually started earlier this time: instead of crashes starting in turns 150-200, it started happening at turn 70ish. I did a quick test of just frequently saving and loading and got it to crash in turn 55, 1 city, and having only met 2 other states.

I reinstalled the game and began crashing again around turn 75.

Is it just me? Is anyone else still crashing? Maybe Firaxis/2K can create a crash log file that gets sent to them with vital info so they can diagnose why this continues MONTHS after the release of the game - after all, I get an error message to report this to Microsoft.

Im beyond frustrated in having to quit to the desktop and restart the entire game just to load.

My original post is located here for anyone who cares, nothing got better with the patch:

Have you attempted the fix that involves renaming the user files directory?

Go to Documents > My Games and in here you will see the Civilization V folder. Right-click it, and select rename, and just put an X at the end of the name (so basically it is called something different to what it is now).

    Then retry.

renamed folder as you described. i had disabled the intro and its back. further, it appears that all my settings are gone as are my saved games. (1) is this normal. (2), if i undo the x and do a cloud save, can i then go back, rename folder with x, and reload my cloud-saved game? (3) will the old save games corrupt anything?

    thanks for the advice.

    EDIT:
wowza, i just relooked and saw that i now have 2 civ folders, 1 with an x and 1 without -- (4) is this also normal?

    (5) should i just continue launching the game via the Civ V hotkey from the desktop or do i need some other/new shortcut?

I moved a saved game to the new folder and played 1 turn. I then loaded and promptly crashed to my desktop as usual.

Don't worry, it's the game not you. There are tens of thousands of us in the same boat. It sucks and there's nothing we can do but wait until this megapatch comes out.

No, its total BS. I bought this game the day it came out and have been patient enough. My computer meets or exceeds the system requirements - Firaxis and 2K games failed to deliver a usable product.

Ive been patient, Ive posted for help, Ive followed their feedback, Ive emailed their tech support directly. Their response has been the same every time: We are working on it, wait for the next patch. They have ruined a perfect series...Ill never buy another game from them.

Time to refund my money. Tell me where to return the product for a FULL REFUND. No other industry can treat their customers like this and expect to get away with it, why should Firaxis and 2K Games? GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK! !

Sadly, CS didnt even respond to my 2nd email after I notified them the game still crashes upon loading...all I got was the notification of email received and will respond within 72 hrs....its been over a WEEK

Thats a sign they really care and are trying...no response.

Looking through the thread the last regarding save file footprint fix will be in the next update, in the mean time do not reload while playing quit to main menu and then load from there.

Can you confirm that you are not reloading saved games while playing the game ?

I have tried reloading via the menu as I stated in the last thread. If I quit to menu and try and load the game I crash, just as I said earlier. No matter how I load the game it crashes EXCEPT when I start the game from windows.

Hardware wise there should be no problem but I need to check if there could be possible issues with OS , as it is not supported. I know it says XP but it is based upon Windows Server 2003.

JonhT, I received your email and responded with the results of your recommendations. I also sent you a PM in the event you did not receive the email. I do not want to correspond via board PMs in the future please.

    Egronis,

A lot of folks are having problems with large maps. Have you tried to play a game with the Duel Map, no Barbarians, no City States and just one AI? That's the only scenario I use and have had no problems.

I also have a few small saved gamed loading once every few reboots. This is normal behavior for a game. I run CS with only one opponent so that it does not overload my computers and also put only one dish (thoroughly rinced) in my dishwasher so that it comes out clean, never carry more than one grocery bag not to overload my car springs...
