I am really not enjoying my experiance on the 2K forums now. There is not enough room when you type. As I said before when you reply to someones post and even go to advanced mode, you can only see a little bit of what you typed. Very frustrating.

Will this be changed or fixed? Is this how the forums are going to be? If you see a drop in usership, this will be why. People do not like the new layout at all.

Greg - but you could always tell before if you had something there or not. That's not the issue. The problem is now you have to click twice in order to get into your inbox. Before it was just one click. Very annoying. Less clicks is always better.

Same with missing online icons. Hovering over the names counts as one click because you have to move your mouse there and wait a moment for the hover. Before you could just see it with the icon.

    This.
This is a skin built from some very savvy forum-makers in 2010. We'll work on tweaks, but not all of the changes you guys are asking for will be implemented - and please don't take offense to this, but we're not the ones that thought up all of this functionality - people who do it for a living (in 2010!) did. We did customize this, however, and will continue to do so. We'll also keep posting some helpful hints to help you guys adjust.

The pros to this forum far outweight the cons - trust me on that. At the very least, I think you guys will be pleasantly surprised to see the reduction in spam, among other huge bonuses.

EDIT: Also, if you want to increase the size of the quick reply box, hit the "increase size" button over on the top right of the field!

I'm sure that double clicking isn't going to cause carpal tunnel syndrome any time soon. The benefits of the changes to the forums far outweigh the few changes that will take some getting used to. By updating, and I'm sure you know this already, it's cut down on spam MASSIVELY. Sorry you have to click a couple of times, but it saves the moderators a lot more clicks not having 30 spam threads pop up at once 20 times a day.

Well, it's definitely awesome to hear that spam is going to be cut down - you guys know how much I appreciate that!

Tbh, I like that the quick reply is much easier to use. I honestly had no idea how to use it before and now I don't think I've actually hit the "reply to thread" option since the forums moved over. It makes it a lot easier to get in there and not have to check facts in a reverse chronological order.

As for the indent... Personally it doesn't bother me now that I've gotten used to it. To be honest, none of it bothers me now that I've adapted to it. As soon as it replaced the existing visual archetypes and I figured out where everything had moved to I got to liking it.

Well, my point is that there are a ton of small details - yes, small details - that most people creating a skin would not let slide. Skinning work, CSS work, GUI design - it's all about details. Then again, when you look at some of the GUI problems in the BioShock games... I guess it shouldn't be surprising to me that 2K doesn't pay enough attention to this stuff IMHO.

Well, personally I didn't notice the forum stuff until you pointed them out, mate. I also don't see how the buttons are "bad" or visually unappealing.

The overview on the landing page seems nice and concise now.

I find myself missing the online status indicator as was previously mentioned and agree with Relight that the stark contrast on the all-white-on-black in threads/replies is a bit rough on the eyes - something like the silver on charcoal used for the thread counts seems a lot easier to read, to me personally.

Here's the example I'm talking about

Well, in the first one, you have two rows of three buttons, and the text on the first two buttons in both rows is vertically centered "properly" and then the text on the third button in both rows is top-aligned instead of being vertically centered. Even if you want to debate what is "proper", I think consistency is a valid argument. If I had been in charge of designing the GUIs for BioShock, or coding the alignment of the text on the GUI graphics, I would be embarassed.

Anyway, I'm sorry for going off-topic. David did ask for feedback in his original post. I've given my feedback... I probably don't need to say more in this thread.

    Hey there,

Just to clear things up: The web team for 2K Games publishing is completely separate from a game dev team. Secondly, while your comments are duly noted, please don't expect every design decision to change according to your wishes and be respectful. Coding these forums takes an enormous amount of time and augmenting the official skin has already taken dozens of hours and, honestly, there are things we should (and are) doing to better the community beyond fixing some spacing. I think everyone here would agree that they'd rather have more contests, game information, and interactive programs than make sure that header and footer bars are completely centered.

That being said, we're still accepting feedback - but please, keep it respectful and understand that these changes are not always easy or straightforward and there is a lot going on with these forums under the hood than what meets the eye.

    Thanks.

ARGH! The colours hurt my eyes.... white on black/red/grey is TERRIBLE contrast. (also the grey seems to be the last colour to load and that does mute the horrible contrast a bit).

Asides from that i don't see much of a difference.

of course it was; it got deleted by a mod!

anyways, I'd like to see the circle back (to know if someones online) and please, post a nice timezone thingy next to the names...
It's quite tedious at times to check a bunch of people's timezones through the profile
->useful for us civers who tend to be in a small minority (the revolutionists)

I had a suggestion in regards to reducing spam, I'm a member on another forum using vBulletin and they have a feature which does not allow a user with less then 20 posts to post links.
