Exclamation wtf why isnt there sound?

    dear bioshock forum
i recently bought a copy of bioshock with my brother, and we downloaded it to our computer, but is bioshock compatible with windows seven? because we have sound with the opening logos and introduction but as soon as game play starts the sound disappears completely
i have windows seven home premium
    running on a Pentium (R) Dual Core CPU E300 @ 2.60 GHz
    with 6 gbs of RAM
with a Realtek High Definition Audio Sound card.
i have already downloaded the v1.1 patch in case that helps.

Enable Stereo mixing, to do this browse to Start > Control Panel > Sound (in classic view). Once done switch to the Recording tab which will show the currently active inputs on your system (e.g. Line in, Microphone). Right click in the clear space below these devices and select the option for Show disabled devices. This should show an additional device called Stereo mixing, right click on this device and select Enable.

I did as explained above, however, when I choose Show Disabled Devices there is nothing there. Any advice? I have an onboard audio card as far as I can tell, as in I do not have a specific card. I have Windows 7, Intel Core Quad 2 @ 2.5 Ghz , 64 bit, 2g RAM.

Compatibility mode for XP, or right-click the icon and select 'Play in DirectX 9' perhaps. Let me know if you need instructions.

Tried the right-click and Play - DirectX 9. Still nothing. Completely silent.
