He's copping out. He can't defend himself and is now trying to find a way to flee this thread without looking like....
Looks like I have less than a week to win on Immortal before the AI becomes more competent...I'd better get busy!
Seriously, if this patch is half as awesome as it sounds from the notes, I will be ecstatic!!! (and I already love Civ 5...)
Woop woop! Nice to know it'll come out soon!
I've read all posts of the discussion and also can't find an insult anywhere, even double checked with a magnifying glass but found nothing.
Perharps it's his way of saying "I have no more arguments to suport my ideas, you've crushed them all, so I'll just invent an excuse and leave".
Yeah, that sounds like a valid theory.
Teaser: Keep your eye on this thread tomorrow![]()
Occams razor... I believe the only explanation is that Txurce is in fact a cat (or possibly dog but I am leaning towards cat) and wayninjas insult was so finely tuned that much like ghosts and smurfs, IT CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY CATS!!!
I have two cats but they refuse to varify my theory with out a human sacrifice.
But yeah... Yaaaaay patch.....
Now I have a stupid question... Everything that is in the patch is going to transend into multiplayer as well (where applicable) right? I know theres no question about simplke number changes but will the AI for example be improved equally in both SP and MP?
And secondly, If the patch does come out tomorrow (or soon after) are we to assume that everything that has been listed is it, or will there be any supprises? (not complaining about the content- lots of stuff in it- just wondering).
I hope this patch makes the game playable. Course, we were in this position last patch and the hotfix before that. My hopes are not high.
Great news...
I'm starting to think that of the 20 or so people given the flick before release was made up of the Dept developing the Multiplayer aspect of Civ 5.
Truly, I cannot wait when this patch comes out. Hopefully, it'll make the AI more competent rather than retaining its barbaric attitude towards smaller neighbors. The number of hours I play after it's released should be enough to compare it to the patch's success.
Found new DLC thread, sorry it seems that its location was apparently obvious to most players here, not familiar with this place but I found it.
spain and somthing, yeah ok that could be cool I guess. Thanks for the option to get it anyway![]()
I'm really hoping this is covered under "multiple tweaks and bugfixes". I just quit a game where all 3 remaining AIs were running a deficit of over 1000gp, over a long period of time (50+ turns), and not losing units to attrition. I almost think that the deficit only matters if you're at war with them (I wasn't), since I've seen broke AIs disband units before.
Shoooootttsss, i've lost the bet. Gambling on the 21st didn't work out... as it looks like we're heading for another tiny week of waiting instead of TWO more. Inca/Spain DLC -- too. Great news.
Gee, puzzle pieces are falling together at last.
TGIF, tomorrow.
I've just got me a dreamy week-end ahead of schedule. As expected, nevertheless.
Send my regards to the devs team & anyone responsible for running through the rush blast of re-coding, 2Kgreg.
Btw, Have you seen my new UI on CFC, yet?
It is clear to me Civ V SP and Civ 5 MP and independent, running off there own file base, hence no single player fixes have affected MP in any way, not even the terrain cacheing issue (fixed SP, broken MP) so think of it at medal of honour. Two ga
mes under the same title. Do not expect any fixes to touch multiplayer unless specificaly designed to (unless it's engine related, then it is debatable).

I would pick option 1 without hesitation.
When the diplomacy and AI kills the single player game to the point that people stop playing, that's beyond 'polish'.
I'm being blunt and rude, but sorry, MP is not as important as SP in Civ. Wait your turn.
You should ask why games are played even years after launch...
due to singleplayer like .....aehmmm.....
or due to multiplayer for example Starcraft.
But right now good news that there will be a patch middle of next week (16.12)
Wait, this patch won't affect multiplayer at all?
Such a waste.
I do sympathize with the MP people, though. It's like Dolly Parton said in support of gay marriage: "Why shouldn't they have to suffer like the rest of us?"
Just want to let you know that my winter holidays will start on December 17
I´m going to lock my doors, buy enough pizza and beer to survive christmas with Civ5

I'm pretty sure it is intentional. The AI is pretty horrible and simplistic in general, so for it to stand a chance against a human opponent they couldn't just lose units to upkeep. The AI rush builds a lot of units though, so by keeping them in the red they are still easier defeated.
I still hope to see more advanced AI's in the patch though, so I can turn the difficulty a bit down and still get challenged. Imo it is just not very rewarding to play against AI's that get insane bonuses.. for example if you are playing on deity you can almost never complete a wonder and the AI will leap forward in technology for a major part of the game. You can still win though, but it is preferable to be on somewhat more realistic terms imo.
well maybe, but as we can see the effect on all games for which steam is not the sole distribution channel, it induces a big lag between a patch being ready and published on steam. so, more than internal QA approval, they also need to cycle throught all steam bureaucraty before the patch can be deployed live, hence minor fixes could take more time to be published on steam than being developped and tested.
also, you have to add cost each time a request is made to steam, and maybe steam also charges something in addition, so the "quick and easy update on steam" is more purely a marketing point than an actual advantage for developpers and gamers.
i see on a lot of publisher game forums people coming to know when they will get access to the last patch for their steam version, while having a physical copy or a game downloaded from another online store gives you immediate access to the update.
I assume you need Colosseums in all your cities?
Markets?[*]New Building: National Treasury (National Wonder for economic track). (Added 12/3)
Sounds cool, what does it mean? Is it similar to a civil war? Do cities defect? Or do some of the population no longer produce anything for your empire? What is the 'certain point'?[*]Unhappiness beyond a certain point breeds rebels within your empire, based on the number of cities a player has. (Added 12/3)
So now cities will reach greater sizes. Good.[*]Reduced amount of food needed for cities to grow at larger sizes. (Added 12/3)
What changed?[*]Tradition branch balance (Landed Elite and Monarchy improvements). (Added 12/3)
Doesn't this mean you can't have a positive happiness?[*]Buildings can now no longer provide more Happiness than there is population in a city (wonders are excluded from this). (Added 12/3)
Is this to help along the ridiculously weak Spain UA? What are the new wonders?[*]3 new additional Natural Wonders added to gameplay, with accompanying “rarity” code. (Added 12/3)
What's changed?[*]Multiple Tech Tree tweaks to address “slingshot” tech exploits. (Added 12/3)
I apologise if any of my questions have already been answered.
edit: Hooray! Only five days until the patch!
I would not expect this to be the case. You can still have luxuries and other happiness increasing conditions (Natural Wonders/Wonders etc). But I would guess that you can no longer create size 2-3 cities and buy a Colloseum and whatnot and have the city producing more than the population in happiness.Doesn't this mean you can't have a positive happiness?
Great stuff, myth confirmed !!
I think the whole happiness issue is gonna be a pain to get use to but maybe it will help diplomacy in this game as you can trade for more Luxury resources and what not... making the overall game have more depth to it.... or it fails and were all on here a few days post-patch "WTF HAPPINESS"
I understand this in that way - if you have city size 2 and collosseum in it - it gives you 2 happieness - but when you build circus in addition - it also gives 2 happieness - and so does theatre and stadion. Single building could not give you more happieness than city has population - but multiple are sackable.
Saw the new ETA! Brix were ☺☺☺☺. Extra excited.
feel shot from me.
Neither me, nor my friends have bougth CIV V for mainly singleplayer - we bought it for the multiplayergame... basicly 90% of motivation was the multiplayer game...
so, saying this it throws me and 5 more customers in the balance against singleplayer.
For now I am not playing the game because my computer turns himself off because of the heatproblem - never seen that before from a game or an application (and I work as a Compurteradministrator in my normal job)
UPDATE!
Check it out here. This thread is being closed in favor of the new one.
