Controls locking up

I thought it's time this deserved its own thread.
I've searched and can't find anyone with the same problem, which I find hard to believe.
Sometimes when my fps is around 15-20, my controls freeze.
If I'm walking forward and firing, I will continue walking and firing even tho I let go of both mouse and keyboard.
It only usually lasts a second at most, but when I was just fighting a big daddy elite bouncer, my controls kept locking for 4-5 seconds at a time.. totally unplayable and frustrating.
I have a freshly installed Vista with ALL drivers downloaded and up to date..
Only thing that works when controls are locked is my mouse movement.

PC Specifications:
Vista ultimate
Athlon 3700+ single core 2.2ghz
2gb ram
NVidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb superclocked edition
x-fi fatality sound card
retail box version

(I also have crackling sound with both my X-FI and my onboard AC-97 while the other is disabled)
Should this go in the main stickied thread? just its 125 pages and I doubt it will be seen there.

Can you please cofirm if you are using a keyboard and mouse, or a gamepad.
Also what drivers do you have for your graphics card and your sound cards?

logitech G5 mouse and logitech keyboard, with logitech setpoint downloaded for Vista.
162.22 WHQL NVidia drivers
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0002.
all drivers were downloaded last thursday so all up to date.

Not solved, but I've found the problem, sound!
Just tried running with the -nosound switch and it's smooth (50% framerate increase), no slowdown in fighting, and more importantly, no controls locking up.
I've tried with both onboard AC97 and my X-fi and both are the same, so it must be the game just needs patching.
Look forward to it, hopefuly it's soon

Ah, pretty annoying, if i use -nosound i can play BUT the subs not show up even if they both ON, WTF?
If i use sound i can't play... but i see subtitles. Ahh.
