    Window Mode and Resolution Problem

I have sorted out the problem of getting my game to start after the patch. I saw somewhere a recommendation to delete the CIV 5 folder from Documents/My Games (win7) and to then verify the game cache.

This has worked and I can now start the game in DX11, but the resolution cannot be changed and the game starts in window format, which I am also unable to change. The problem this creates is a small map area with much of the screen taken up by the mini(haha) map and other icons etc.

    Any solutions welcomed.

Thanks for the response. BTW the damn game will not work at all again and whatever I did yesterday seems to have been a pure fluke. I reckon the problem is with the Documents/My Games/ Civ 5 folder though.

Can you also check the file under MyDocs\MyGames\Civ5\GraphicSettingsDX11.ini

Near the bottom you should see a line

    FullScreen = ?

If you're running in windowed mode, that should be 0.

Also is this a laptop? It looks like you're trying to output to a LG television or something from the DXDiag. I know sometimes getting Civ5 to work over an external monitor can be a bit of a challenge.

I tried a complete removal of both Steam and Civ 5 and a fresh download and consequently now have no Document/My Games/Civ V folder

It's a pc linked to an LG TV and I have had no problems in running other games on it.

I had tried the DX11 changes but I had problems being able to change the details as it would keep on reverting. Somehow I did eventually succeed and was able to run the game yesterday without problems. However, today, despite the details having remained as I had entered, the game would not start.

    Thanks for the response.

    The issue is the resolution.
For whatever reason, the game wont do a frist start in a 16:9 resolution.

Change your desktop resolution to a standard PC resolution, and it will launch normally (then you can switch back)

Tried it, but unfortunately it did not work. Perhaps someone has got a Documents folder set up that will work for me?

Oddly I have been able to install the game on an older pc running windows xp and play the game! However, the pc it's running on is meant for business purposes and I can't play it on that machine. I was hoping I would be able to copy the My Documents folder to my Win 7 pc but I cannot locate the XP file. I have no intention of swapping the intended uses of the pc's just because of Civ 5!

It's very strange that I can run the game on a pc with poorer specs, although late game there's one hell of a lot of lag.

When is 2K or Steam going to answer my queries to their game support sites?
