Bioshock wont load

Hi guys, i bought bioshock about 2 days ago and have finaly finished installing it today.
So here is what happens.. when i try to run bioshock the little bioshock screen comes up but not much more.
I also saw another post where a guy put -nosound in the set launch options.. when i tried this it the loaded up and worked.. but obviously i had no sound
Does any one know how i can get the game to work.. i also tried -dx9 tho im not sure thats relevant.

My specs
intel q6600
nvidia 8800gt
creative gamer soundcard
3GB ram
