I find it ironic that when 2k Liz announced that the DLCs wouldnt come to the pc everyone of PC usage got mad and now they are happy...many people wanted 2k to die....sheesh this is why i trust 2k no matter what cause they will find a way to make things right

That's what I'm saying. Hundreds of players bought the DLC and can't even use it. It's absolutely outrageous. It might seem like whatever 2k does, we'll never be happy about it, but it's the developers' fault for ignoring the DLC's obvious problems in the first place. If they had actually addressed the issue early on, they wouldn't be put into this situation now.

Like I've been saying, this patch is fantastic news for PC fans, but the lack of a playlist is still hurting players on the PC, 360 and PS3. Why fix one major problem but not another? The Vending Machine sounds don't matter at all and no one really cares, but we payed good money for the DLC so we could play on the multiplayer maps and months after its release, we still can't.

I am now happy. This made my day! :'-D I'm not a PC player, either!

Okay, now I don't want to be the random ass who ruins the fun, but what about the playlist for the MP? I assume that's still cancelled, as that was being made by a different studio.

I always thought a lot of the stuff that goes on in the game industry got to be really interesting and all.

I was always curious about cert-process and whatnot - b/c sometimes it seems like it takes a while for something that got submitted to get approved by companies: even say something such as a small hot-fix patch. Probably lots of testing to make sure all is well, I'd assume.

I'm betting getting a game and even DLC on a DD (digital distributor) must be interesting. I'm betting they all got their own process: Steam, G4WL, Impulse, Gamergate, etc.

I don't think I'll be able to give you the level of detail you want, though, as this isn't a completely public process.
    Very understandable.

I ain't played Bioshock 2 MP in quite some time, so I might be kind of clueless and all...

Is there a way for Bioshock 2 owners to know what gamers and servers have what MP DLC's?
Maybe even by coloring their name a different color for owning Sinclair?
    Another for owning say Metro?
And maybe another color for owning ALL DLC?

C'mon Liz, you just had it going for you!

Goddamnit, is there any explanation for WHY putting in the vending machine voices is so hard? I don't know anything about coding to be honest, but since it worked just fine pre-release shouldn't it be a rather easy to fix problem?

Anyway, that's not going to spoil it for me, Guile's theme DEFINATLY goes with this.

Don't worry - once the inevitable 'complete edition' shows up with all DLC included you'll have plenty of new people to play with.

they don't have to ADD the sounds, just turn them on, and they don't want to spend the time(money!!) looking for where the problem is.

So then what does 2K intend to do for all the people they stole about $10 from?

We can't play Rapture Metro in public online. 2K really needs to either refund and make it free (thus allowing for more players to use the maps, and allow us to actually have random matches in them) or find some other way for us to ensure playing them.

Can 2K implement a search option? So you can look for games on those maps that are currently in session?

Or, rather than the terrible 'veto' option, allow players to select a stage they want to play and then randomly choose out of those stages.

Maybe a playlist option is not viable, but I am begging that you get 2K to reconsider other options to allow for users to have an easier method of plaything matches on those maps rather than "hope for the best" or "play in private, and not get achievements/level up".

Until something like that or a refund is put in place, I am still mad with 2K Marin and have no interest in their future titles, being a 360 user, rather than a PC user.

Also, 2K doesn't have to add any sounds in. The sounds are already there. This was confirmed BY 2K back when it was first noticed. They got turned off. There's no reason they shouldn't be able to just find the problem and just switch them back on.

Not that I care much about the sounds anymore, other than the silliness of it not being fixed. I honestly feel that anything, no matter how small, should be a priority. Not just big things.

We now want xbox controller support and everything would be fine.

It was a *big mistake* to not include controller support from the beginning!!

Lots of gamers use the xbox 360 controller to play!

I'm a real fan of your saga, can't wait to buy all DLC and the next Bioshock Infinite in collector's edition.

    Thanks for listening to us.

And why, as a console player, I have to pay for this DLCs? At least, 2k could realise a Survivor mode for us, as they did for Bio1. Bio2 is very very very easy. Maybe we should now start crying a little.... Congratulations to PC players,
(sorry for my english, I'm from spain)

Okay okay thx Liz for your efforts but this has only recentred your PC karma from me...

You were intially a +20... then a few recent things moved you to a -50... and this announcement has now moved you back to a more reasonable -10 on my unscaled, unbiased, personal karma redemption points system (UUPKR for short ). So yeah this is a good thing to hear, but any less and you would still be in my EVIL EVIL KILL IT! books. So thanks for someone somewhere in one of those backdoor secret 2k meetings having some common sense. I look forward to when these things are actually released and able to play and then i might reconsider some of the things i've said on here in the past.

Wow, I'm truly shocked... in a good way. I was not expecting this at all. I have to say I'm pretty impressed with 2K right now; as bad as the handling of the situation was, I never, ever expected them to reverse the decision that seemed completely final. So, to everyone at 2K who made this happen, I thank you very much.

So people don't like them when they do crappy things, and they do like them when they do good things, and that's... ironic?

Ref: No playlist or alternate fix for Metro Pack and lack of vending machine sounds.

Liz - if 2K are going to do a job then do it properly or not at all, not half arsed, so you've pulled one rabbit out of the hat, pulling the second rabbit out of the hat to fix the minor issue of the vending machine noises working and getting Digital Extremes to fix something that should be a simple fix for someone of their experience is your next task.

I know you've breathed a sigh of relieve as a result of this announcement, but I don't think your work is quite done yet.

An alternate to fixing the Metro pack problem would be to simply get the DLC released free and as a mandatory update/patch, as opposed to simply still commiting theft and fraud.

    PS

I'm thankful enough of what they are fixing/finishing. The playlist on the metro pack is the furthest thing from my mind.

Really, they should just release it for free. That would fix the problem. I wouldn't be upset about having spent money on it.

    This.

That's cool that they fixed things for PC users, but this is still ignoring all the PS3 and 360 owners who are still getting nothing for their rage.

And $10 wasted (or $5 if bought during the last or this sale).

You're still selling an unusable product. That's wrong. It should be a mandatory patch (is it on the disc already? Part of it is, since we knew the maps ahead of time. Not sure if all of it is or not) so that EVERYONE is playing the maps. And 2k has to do something to make up for this to all the people who can't play it.

I only bought the map pack during the last sale because I was expecting a patch down the line. I can't believe how stupid I was, and I would like 2K to either make some kind of effort to remedy this or to give me my $5 back. It may not be a lot, but it could've been spent on something I could actually use/play.

Its good news that 2k have decided to continue support (still not quite sure why everybody is singing their praises again when this should be the norm)and all but why release a patch if its not going to fix two of the biggest problems in the game? I don't think you are grasping how much of a difference little thing like the vending machine sounds make in a game like bioshock 2 that relies heavily on the atmosphere it creates for the player. also is there a possibility you do a list of things that you actually do hope to fix with the patch. Not asking for a definitive list just a list to give us (customers) an idea of what is coming.

    Thumbs up Hell yes!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! Cheers to 2K, that they did not forget PC players.

I've waited for these DLCs + patch a long time. Then I read the message from 2K.. no DLCs for PC. I thought.. wait.... wait.. WTF!?

BUT... in the meantime I played the multiplayer further. This alone shows how awesome this game is and although I got the bad news I played along.

So.. big thx to 2K again! Keep Rapture alive, 'cause it's ☺☺☺☺in' rulin'.

    Greetings

Firstly thanks to 2k for reconsidering on the pc dlc , great news that we will be getting it (and for free! yay) , secondly i'm still a little dissapointed that the vending machines won't be fixed , but i've come to the conclusion that if it was a 'simple' problem then it would have been fixed quite quickly , it would be nice to know the technical reasons that prevent this though .... - anyway once again thanks for listening on the dlc....

I want to know too what the technical problem is keeping them from fixing the sounds.

And I don't have the dlc but fixing it so people can play what they paid for should be done FIRST.

Indeed, the Metro pack problem could be solved very simply without a single line of coding or cert or anything by simply making it a free download. Then all multi-players could get it and we would start seeing them in public matches automagically.

    It is really THAT easy!

Actually, this isn't the case at all. It is not as simple as turning on sounds - I talked to the dev guys and this is a significant amount of work that is very far from flipping a switch. (There's very little in programming that is that easy.)

In short: No, it's not. I promise you that. I've spent a couple weeks learning a lot about this stuff, and if it were that simple, we'd be doing it.

I hope we can still focus on the fact we're still putting out free Protector Trials, the last patch, and Minerva's Den is coming (WOO.)

This is great news. However, the most congratulations needs to go to the fans who were dogged in their pursuit of 2K over the last few months. Getting 2K to do something they didn't want to do is quite an achievement.

Hats off to everyone who wrote a letter, sent an email, endured a banning, posted on Bioshock Infinite stories, made forum posts pointing out holes in 2K's logic and otherwise protested - ultimately making a difference in getting 2K to do the right thing.

To each of you: Outstanding work.

[Checking the dates...scanning for sarcasm...it's clean!]
Oh, now this was a rather pleasant surprise.
Good to hear that Minerva's Den will finally be available to me, and well done 2K for offering Protector Trials for free. Plenty of companies wouldn't bother with this very simple, but very meaningful, gesture.
If you manage to pull this off, you may very well be getting a few of my hard earned pennies come release day.

Could they perhaps consider the playlist and sounds AFTER the the PC stuff? Surely, they could do that since those resources would be freed back up.

Could you elaborate on this one, please ?
When you are saying it is not that easy, what do you refer to ?

    1. Is it difficult to turn an existing pay-for DLC into a free-to-download DLC ?

    2. Are you saying that even if it was free and most active BS2-MP players downloaded it, we still wouldn't see it being picked randomly more often in the existing mp-lobby system (without any change). I thought the game was picking a random map out of all 16 if all players in the lobby had the Metro pack, i.e. there would be a 6/16 = 37.5% chance of playing a Metro-map. Am I wrong in that assumption ?

BTW, thanks for your efforts in the PC-DLC decision change, even though I do not play on the PC (I own BS1 and 2 and all DLCs on the ps3), I do appreciate your efforts in trying to get the fans' view transmitted to the company!

I've been coming here and posting in the hopes that some closure might be coming for the already-released DLC, so the PC announcements don't affect my priorities in the slightest.

As I stated in an earlier post, if the playlist isn't coming, then the ability for future customers to buy Rapture Metro should be disabled. What is the company's stance on this solution? What kind of process would 2K have to go through to remove this particular DLC from stores? I realize that the company hates the idea of not receiving money retroactively, but there will be far less profit if future players of BS2 get shafted repeatedly by buying Metro. As such, complaints will continue to come in, which will go unresolved, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of every person who purchased/will purchase the pack.

If I say I'm feeling ignored, you'll say you've been reading all of these posts, so I'll just pass on that. Some people may be irritated that I'm willing to settle for less than fully usable DLC, but in my eyes this is the bare minimum required on 2K's part in response to the playlist issue.

I do not get your point, Kalysm. If they remove the ability to buy the Rapture Metro pack, that will not help in any way, just seals the situation in the current bad state. Our only hope to play the maps we paid for is if everyone else who actively plays MP would also get it.
