But people are speculating on it, and every last shred of information is being eagerly gobbled up (not by me— I don't want spoilers).
I've PM'd Ken with my speculation from the main thread. If I'm wrong, I don't want to know the truth. If I'm right, well, it is what makes the most sense and would come as no suprise (to me at least) when it's revealed in the game.
I saw that post, about how you saw it and I agree, I thought you're probably spot on. It looks like the crux of the whole thing is the slug.
Maybe Ken will post a response here (apparently he said he would if someone posted the question)
