Do people want more or less?

I am curious as to what people want? Civ V is streamlined compared to other games. I guess the saying is "Less is more" where you have less units, less techs, less buildings, but increase the fun because alot of these things are useless or obsolete. Ok, I can handle this.

So we all can agree, Civ V has less than other games compared to it. Lets not argue if Civ V is a good game or not, this thread is not for that.

What I am trying to ask is, do you want more or less in a game? So for example, Call to Power 2, you have more tech, more units, more things to build, more things to research, etc etc, or do you want less like in Civ V?

For me, I can see where they went with in Civ V. The game is to be a faster paced game. This is good. But I like it, but I prefer more.

I love having more stuff to build, more stuff to research and more different type of different units to move.

So for you guys and girls, do you prefer more or less?

Personally, I think if you were an avid Civ player before 5 you'd probably want more as you learned Civ the [I guess we will call it] 'complicated' way (or more flavorful way!). I don't know anyone who full-out played past civs and didn't want more.

I believe the developers had said this (most likely implying but cannot be sure), that they were aiming for a broader audience to intake more sales. This essentially broadens the sales from just civ fans to new ones. This of course, means a more simple streamlined game will be easier for those not in to civ to understand.

However, I also heard that they will be adding onto the game with expansions (I think the DLC is for the most part focused on new civs) trying to take it from the streamlined level and add more onto it. From a developers perspective, this isn't necessarily a bad move as you attempt to broaden your player base then take them back to the complex levels of older civilization games.

On the other hand you have us... who will have to patiently wait until more is added to the game. You may think I don't like it from this post, but I actually have a blast. The game is more streamlined, but I still enjoy it as there are other things to focus on (that are new!). If they come out with DLC or more more realistically an expansion that really adds to the games complexity, I'll be fine with that. I'm a patient person .

Yea I ranted too long... basically I want more options...

I know a few people who would like the game where it is. They're players who have just now been introduced to civ. They claim it's already complex, haha. Which when you think about it, in a way it is for someone new. Just give them a month or two, they'll change their minds

Civ 5 should have been civ 4 and then some with a few changes, additions and perhaps an omission or 2 - perhaps.

To me, the civ series need to be realistic (so I hate civ 5's moron science and auto heal promotion for example) and as complex of a maze as possible with the great fine tuning that civ 4 had, resulting in approximately the same amount of effort for the various victory types.

Dumbing down this series is sacrilege and there is no need for it. The more complex stuff can be simply run by the AI for newbs on lower difficulties - too easy.
