    Bravo on the soundtrack

Civilization 5 may be a work in progress but I would defy anyone to say this soundtrack is not excellent. Just listen to the English peace music.

They took ALOT of music from civ 4, which makes it feel to me atleast not that fresh. Also I sometimes feel that the music is out of step with my era, this can depend on the culture/civ you play though. They did a good job with it, there just needs to be MORE though for some diversity since you play for such long periods of time.

No mate. You're definitely not alone. I agree with you that the new music is of very high quality. I played a game as China and some of the ethnic music that accompanied my game was very interesting to say the least. It's going to take a while to work my way through all the music.

Did they? I swear most of the music is new and are real songs created by famous composers for each region, but replayed for Civ V. The only song I recognise which was from Civ IV was a Dvorak song (not sure which one it was), it played during the Industrial era (I think) in Civ IV and when you play as a Western cultured civ in Civ V.

Completely agree with you. I even made a comment like this in an old thread I made. Scroll near to the bottom and you will find it.

Agree completely - I Vow to Thee, My Country was a great choice.

It's from the New World Symphony. Or if you're British, the Hovis tune.

Sound track is good, but it doesn't drown out the annoying sounds that come with games, like, DINNER, are you alive? you know typical family questions. So I turned off the sound and went to itunes.

Yes they recycled alot of the same sound files/songs which are dvorak and other well known composers. Thats fine but there seems to be alot less music overall in the game then civ4 had.

Dont know if it has to do with playing Egyptians but the current map I play the music is so whiny it gives me a headache.

It sounds like trying to strangle a cat or something. Probably fits with middle-east music, not sure but darn its annoying.

Cant remember playing Japan had this annoying music but didnt play Japan for a s long as Egypt so could be remembering wrong.

    your's sincerely !!!

if you liked the English song from the soundtrack for the "peace" track, then you would really like the original by John Holst, The Planets - Jupiter

Civ 5's music is superior to 4's imo, though it's true 4 had some impressive music that might be studied at a typical Western university (medieval chants, Mozart, Beethoven, etc). I frankly prefer 5's regional approach, and I like how the original music for 5 is more sophisticated and more flavorful than the simple drum-beats with accompaniment that made up some of 4's leader themes (Mao's, for instance).

Favorite peace track has got to be Genghis Khan's and Elizabeth's. Favorite war? Elizabeth, Rameses, quite a few others actually!
