Exclamation 500 turns and AI never attack me.

I was playing a game last night and played 500 turns. I was not attack once. The AI was contacting me all the time for open borders and other stuff. I said no to everything. The AI was attack each other, but not me. I have no idea if a civ likes me or hates me. In Civ4 I know who like me and who didn't. I think this game can be great but, there are so my fixes they need to make in this game. I loved playing civ4 and that game keep me on my toes at all times.

Maybe you were too powerful or stronger than the AI so they woudn't attack you then. I know after they found me weak, they would attack me then.

The diplomacy is completely opaque and the AI are completely nonsensical morons. You dont really ever know why they do the things they do, but eventually 9/10 they will attack you. Thats been my experience.

I am still used to Civ IV so I am (slowly) learning that I don't need such a large army to scare other civs. I am constantly overbuild units (and getting trouble with my money).

But I am getting better at it (learning the new concepts and keeping a balanced sized army).

Did you win the game? Or is it still going on? Maybe the AI is winning and doesn't need to contact you.

    barbarians

It seems that the only threat I have is the barbarians. They will come in and make trouble. That is all I did. I killed barbarians the hole game. I am not kidding. Every game I played. I stopped playing and waited for a patch. Well I got a patch and that did not fix the problem. You think after 4 games that they would get it right. I think after many patches it will by a fun and great game.

So, what did you do each turn if you weren't in a war or preparing for war?

(My biggest gripe at the moment is that there is almost nothing to do in Civ 5, other than press 'end turn' and wait...for most of the game if you want to play a peaceful builder game)

In the past I have always played peacefully. But it is true as a peaceful player the game is pretty dreary. You can only End Turn and wonder why you even continue playing (This is CIV it's got to be good and fun to make?). Therefore, since I play very aggressive.

In other way this game is very boring or deadly.^^

hier Der Sohn hätte CIV Spielen sollen.

You could try to win the game with 1 city with a cultural victory or diplomacy victory. Play this on King or higher on a Pangaea-map and it can pose a serious effort to keep those AI happy and not attack you

I tried a cultural win with one city, and was very busy paying off City-states and keeping diplomacy going with all AI's.

With a city to play the game would be even much more bleak. As for diplomacy. I can only say that the AI too illogical acts as the one here can speak of diplomacy.
The CIV is a super game against people but against the AI it's just very quickly without a proper challange at all difficulty Levels.

If you look weak then they will most certainly take advantage of this and declare war. Especially if you start to have border disputes.

But if you have a strong army, the odds that they will declare war drop considerably.

I had to look for reasons to go to war in one game because the AI was indeed afraid of me and for good reason. Militarily, I had a much larger army than any of the other civs and a more advanced army at that. Just to shake things up, I looked for excuses such as another civ had a city that had a resource I wanted, or the game I played the other day where one civ build a city that cut my empire in two, cutting my trade route to the capital. Naturally I went to war and gave him my two cents.
