Perma Fog in my territory / Can't see units

Hey all, I've lurked around here a bit today (several hours) and did some searches but I can't find anyone else thats had this issue so I'm going to post it and ask.

Does anyone else have or know how to fix this "perma-fog" glitch? Inside my territory there are tiles that are always covered in fog of war, even if I have a unit on the tile. I can't see the unit, but I can give it orders and if I move it, it comes out of the fog and is fine. Near one of my cities I have 2 unimproved oil tiles and a barbarian camp covered in fog, even though the barbarians have long since been destroyed and the oil tiles both have wells on them. If I scroll over one of the tiles it does not register that its improved in the pop-up details box for that tile, though the resource does show up on my DipScreen.

Again, just curious if anyone knows how to fix this. Thanks all!

Try deleting the cache, and relaunching the game.

Cache folder is located in My Documents/My Games

A new ATI driver came out last week, you have a real old driver. Try updating your video driver:

    Link: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

I have the ATI Radeon HD 5650 and installed the new drivers.

What a bizarre unique issue, your drivers are up to date enough, you can try updating them, maybe they just need a "flush"

I just updated drivers but that didn't seem to fix it either. Wish I could post a screenshot of it with explanation but not sure how to do it

To take a screenshot, it's either F12 or PrintScreen. Don't remember. Screenshots are stored in C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\ScreenShots. Then you have to use a free website like Image Shack to host the picture for you. Also, converting it into a JPEG might make it a lot easier for people to view it.

M'kay try this link to see the picture.

    http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/606/permafog.jpg

Ok that worked. As you can see there is a barbairan encampment and oil source in the north. The oil as a well on it and the barbarian encampment is not actually there. To illustrate the unit issue, there is the yellow circle in the middle-right of the image where my worker is standing. You can see the circle around him, and he is active (I can do stuff with him) but he is "shrouded" by fog.

Wow, even your city name isn't showing up, or did u disable that somehow???

  13. #13
Oh the city name and map and all that show up when I'm playing. I thought the screenshots just cut all the menus out when it takes the pic. I don't have any problems with that though.

Just wondering if anyone thought of any more solutions for this or if a dev can look at it. I tried messing with the video settings in the game but nothing seems to work. Still have fog on tiles that won't go away and covers units, improvements, etc.
