Unhappy Too many activation / Revocation is not possible

    Hi2All ,

I bought BioShock in Steam by my MasterCard and tried to download it.

But when I finished downloading, Bioshock gave me RunTime Error in wlhook.

Then I upgraded my PC (cpu and dram), now c2d 6700, 2gb Kingston, and 8800gts (drv 162.18).

After that I tried to play again and saw the error: "Activation FAILED:
server error - too many activation on same PC"

I saw this problem in forum and decided to reinstall BioShock but testing the reinstall game I saw the error: "Revocation is not possible, you have no valid Unlock Code set!"

Please, could you tell me what Unlock Code is?

I didn't receive any Code to my e-mail when I bought this game.

With my best regards from Russia,

    Roman Petrov

Please contact either Steam or 2K's tech support. They will be able to reset your counter on their activation servers.

Also, what runtime error did you get ? runtime.dll error??

I send 4 letters to 2K, and nothing ( they don't answer me.
I sent letter to SecuRom, and receive answer :

"Thank you for your email. We are sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new game. Unfortunately, at this
time, we have been asked to have you contact STEAM directly regarding your activation issues.
Please contact Patrick McClard at patrickm@valvesoftware.com.
    Best regards,"

I send letter to Patrick McClard, and nothing (

I try reinstall BioShock but testing the reinstall game I saw the error: "Revocation is not possible, you have no valid Unlock Code set!"

I can't uninstall BioShock in Steam or Remove/Inst Program (Win).

With my Best Regard from Russain.

    P/S/ Sorry for my English.

God, well this definitely puts a damper on my day. My new cpu is coming next week.

So before I can even test if the CPU is working, I have to uninstall Bioshock, then install the CPU. Afterwards, spend 3 hours downloading off of Steam.

Then uninstall all the stuff I had to install to get the game to work and then reinstall it. Bioshock gets side by side errors if C++ 2005 is installed prior to the game, so I have to install that after the game, then Direct X 2007 August redist, then I have to set -dxlevel 90 in the launch console, run in XP SP2 compatibility mode, and finally switch between Bioshock.exe and testapp.exe for the game to load...otherwise I get steam.dll_unloaded, bioshock.exe, or mscvr10 "game has stopped responding" errors...

Another 5 hours down the drain...

Pirates from the license differs presence of support... And if there is no support?

There should never have been activation limits in the Steam version. Shame on 2k.

I read your sentence at least 10 times, and I cannot understand it. You mind to rephrase?

still no luck launching the game? I feel sorry for you mate. The complete lack of support from 2k made me decide not to buy any game published by 2k anymore. This includes Bioshock, even if they remove Securom. First they spoil the game with the worst copy protection mankind has seen, then they don't give a ☺☺☺☺ in case you can't play Bioshock. And about a third of the customers have to deal with all kinds of copy protection problems (as can be seen in this POLL). Have you tried returning the game and getting a refund?

To me the idea has come - I with pleasure would bring an action on 2K. It is necessary to try to find Russian the lawyer in US.

Call up your credit card company and tell them you want to put a "Stop charge" on the purchase. Tell them the software was not functional and you didn't receive what you paid for, direct them to THIS and you other thread for proof. Mastercard will file it under a non receipt of product, and it will probably take 60 days, but you'll get your money back(or Steam will likely jump to help when they see the charges being disputed). Mastercard is great, and they will stand by you since 2K/steam/SecuRom(sony) screwed you over and apparently refuse to help.

No prob. http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/ima...ons/icon14.gif Seeing how 2K's support staff has apparently abandoned this forum and haven't been answering anything, You probably would have never gotten an answer from them that didn't point the finger at someone else.

http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/ima...ons/icon13.gif to 2K, the disappointing lack of support for your paying customers has fallen to new lows... sad, very sad.

True. The game is now out for two weeks and nothing has been said except for a lousy "a patch will come" and that slap-in-the-face called 5x5. Up until now I thought 2K might kick EA off the throne and bring back customer care and fanbase-relationship to pc-gaming. But they are merely out to replace EA, not to change anything.
