10 Reasons Not to Buy This Game.

    10. Repetitive load screen cinematics.
    9. Sluggish and sometimes unresponsive controls.
    8. Incredibly boring sidequests.
    7. The downtime is downright annoying after the first few quests across empty New York.
    6. NPCs are scarce and uninteresting.
    5. Pathetic boss battles, especially The Darkness.
    4. Getting lost in the dark and/or not knowing where to go because you missed one little phrase in a conversation.
    3. Backtracking over the boring levels.
    2. Poorly integrated and useless darkness powers.
    1. The AI.

I did like the cinematics and voice acting in this game, and was moved by the story early on, but ultimately this is a broken game. I just want to insure that less people make the same mistake I made. Sorry 2k, this game is hardly worth a rental.

My number 1 reason I wish I hadn't bought The Darkness: Where the hell are all the enemies!!?? Me- "I feel like doing some fighting, let's go look for some enemies." Oh wait there aren't any except at the specific points in the game when you are required to fight...poor....very, very poor....

Wow what a complete ass you are Dangar.

    1. The load screen cinematics are nothing to be mad about.
    2. The controls are not sluggish/unresponsive.
    3. The sidequests are just aggravating as they take forever and you really just walk till you find what you need.
    4. What do you mean downtime?
    5. They are not scare, they just don't do anything but die with one hit of a wrench.
    6. I don't know.
    7. That doesn't happen. I've barely listened to a word that annoying retard says and I'm doing just fine.
    8. Yes it does suck.
    9. What drugs are you on again?
    10. The A.I. is fine.

Are you a commonly mad person? Or are you just trying to make fun of 2K by making up some BS reasons in which most aren't even true? The game is a great one(if you can get it to run) and I'm GLAD my dad brought it(I'm poor I'm not buying it).

From the last sentence, "Sorry 2K" you make it sound like you were actually giving the game a chance, and it was you making a desperate attempt to get back at them just because you 1. Sucked at the game 2. It was probably the most aggravating install you've ever had to deal with. Either ways, get off the forums. We have 10,000 people just like you.

The Darkness is a really great game. Everyone who loves FPS's should buy it. It also has great multiplayer, but it can get laggy at times.

You are a moron. Not just because you listed your responses in the opposite numerical order, but because the A.I. is absolutely, inescapably piss-poor, blind, unresponsive and bland, "downtime" is a self-explanatory phrase, and you punctuated your post with something as witless as a Ron White quote or a GTFO owl. In addition, drugs and madness have no part, and the game's difficulty is not an issue, nor have I known it to be an issue with anyone else given how glaring the game's real flaws become shortly after mastering the simplistic gameplay. Your daddy bought you the game? Good for you. But you don't have to like it just because you own it, and unlike your fellow junior high attendees, most adults aren't going to lash out at a publisher because they're frustrated with a game.

You have to install games for them to work on a console? I believe that you are in a Bioshock mentality in The Darkness forum. gb2/kindergarten/ to learn how to read.

Anyways, Load screens were quite repetitive, I personally had no problems with the controls, sidequests were usually no more than walking somewhere, talking to a person, and walking back, you can't run, enemies are no where, I never noticed any boss battles, I personally never got lost, walking still sucks, creeping dark was the most suck, the others were alright (for me), and for AI that do nothing but shoot you, how smart do you think they need to be?

F.E.A.R.-smart would be great, but at least Half-Life 1 smart would be acceptable.

True. FEAR smart might be a little overkill though. Hell, most of the time they weren't near anything to hide behind in the first place, makinig the game even easier.

Yes it is worth getting, i've only got a few PS3 games, but it is the best (beats motorstrom and R:FOM). But apparantly the 360 version is better because 2k is microsoft's b**ch

Honestly, I really don't enjoy what i've played of The Darkness.

Its just one giant gimmick wrapped up in a fairly sub-standard shooter ... Each to their own I guess.

You must be a real prick for posting this **** here, thank you very much for that
100 clicks i had to do. Retarded imbecile...
I like the Darkness for the immersive moments it has and for it's over-the-edge violence, but when you look at it from a gameplay standpoint, it's obviously crap. The only thing i did was leveling up my Darkness powers to be able to get really close to every single enemy so i could pull of an execution move. And it has absolutely not even an inch of leveldesign, just streets, rooms, and wide open areas with no cover at all. Nevertheless, i really enjoyed the atmo, and it had some really intense parts imho.

I also agree with him... he's not a madman. His reasons are true about the game. C'mon, you have to admit the game gets dull after a while.

no need to be such a jerk, he was just voicing his opinion on the game... not every game is perfect, not even Bioshock (go on, ban me). I played it a few days ago and I have to say it was only OK, good but it got boring after a while.

I agree the game had it's flaws, and I can't disagree with the OP.... But I enjoyed the game a lot. The graphics and plot are great, I just wish they'd tune up the animation, gameplay, and bosses.

I agree with FallenVamphyre. The only big problem I had was Jackie on the Phone. His lips didn't match his voice. But apart from that I thought it was a great game and a really enjoyable one to.

    Oh, and

    http://www.bluehatseo.com/images/mid...nger_flame.jpg
First off i'd like to say that picture kicks ass and i'm adding it to my pictures. Secondly, i agree with most of this stuff. (Seriously what the hell is downtime, when your dead?)

    To Nucka

From bottom to top, the AI is agreeably ok, not expertly smart but ok. For example, some enemies wont even notice if you get a Creeping Dark right up in front of them, but that's ok, its like half a foot in height, it's supposed to be sneaky. Other then that the AI seems fine, taking cover, actually being able to shoot (Call of Duty, all the games, can go to hell) etc...

The only power i really found pathetic was the Darkness Guns. Everything else had it's used but you really have to know when to use it. I'm trying to be an *******, yes i said that so that you don't get the impresion i'm not, your probably one of the types who sat down in the middle of a hallway and tried to bite peoples faces off, screaming at the TV every time you got shot.

I can agree with this, backtracking can be annoying as hell but your not playing a god danm MMORPG where you keep going 50 miles after evey freaking mission. In other words, your going to be limited in space. Deal with it.

This happened to me once. And only once. That's because i learned from my first mistake and stopped running around shooting everybody in sight before they had a chance to tell you that you've won 50 million dollars. Just because it's a shooter, doesn't mean you have to shoot everything (and FYI, just because it's called The Darkness, that doesn't mean you should shoot out so many lights you can't see)

This game had boss battles...? There were no boss battles. Just because something is unique and a bit harder doesn't make it a boss. Your example: The Darkness. You don't even have to fight, you have to put yours guns away, walk up, and give it a danm hug. Not much of a fight.

True it's not realistic for there to be this few people in such a popular city, but newflash: It's a game where you can summon demons from white spots on the ground and make black holes by turning tentacles blue. When the hell did realise come into play?

    As i said, the hell?

The only thing i can agree with is that the walking pace is slow. Everything else is fine. Unless you tried to use your powers while about 10 floodlights were facing ya and you once again screamed at the tv because it wouldn't work.

Oh sorry, we'll get the work to making 100 more cinematic scenes because we actually give a **** about something thats actually meant to be unrelated. While we're at it how about we bring in someone to suck your dick and shine your shoes.

I wouldn't say it's outstanding. It's quite fun to play through once but it's certainly nothing to get too excited about. Having the darklings is fun but they often dissappear for no apparent reason, and the black hole and darkness guns seem like cheap additions as I don't see that they fit in well with the others.

This thread and everythign the OP has said is stupid. Granted this is a little old but I feel my feeble input is important... to me atleast.

So yea, you and your "top ten list" can suck it.

I couldn't agree less. It's like you randomly picked out things that were fine with the game and decided to say that they were lame just to see if anyone would respond. I wouldn't be surprised if you had never even played the game.

I just played the demo and I think this game is great! The graphics are REALLY good and i just think it's a lot of fun I don't see why you have to fight. Everyone's got their own opinions and that's no reason to insult them just because they think it's a great game. If you don't like it then you don't like it. It's not like you are the center of the universe and if you don't like something nobody else is allowed to like it either. Think about that for a little bit.

i got this game for £5 off the internet and i went on it for 5 mins then put it in a draw and never played it since
I am not a wasteful person who will just buy a game and go on it once and never go on it again (exception for this game) even if theres a game i don't think is brilliant i will go on it a few times and either give it to someone or sell it but this game is terrible i dont want to give someone the horror of having to own it
