    Cannot Play past turn 499

Game will crash to desktop upon ending turn 499

    Map - Huge

    # of Civs - 18 to start with (down to 10 or so at this point)

    # of City-States 24 to start with (down to 9 or 10 at this point)

    Continents map

    King difficulty

The only victory condition turned on is Domination (time victory among all others is turned off)

    Playing as Greeks

    Playing in DirectX9 mode

    1360 X 768 resolution

Playing with all details on max except texture quality (due to the poor terrain texture load performance i was getting lots of crash to desktops, turned the terrain quality down to low and it stopped crashing)

Made sure zoomed in as far as possible (to help ease off the graphics)

Tried setting all graphical detail to lowest - does not help

Tried ending turn in strategic view - does not help

Tried ending turn on a space that just displayed water (to help ease off the graphics) - does not help

    Computer Specs:

    Windows XP 64-bit edition

AMD Phenom Quad-Core 965 Black edition (clocked at 3.4Ghz)

EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9800GTX+ with latest EVGA drivers installed (Just just higher than recommend specs/ was getting a constant 60fps through hole game when zoomed completely in, even in late game and in leader diplomacy screen/ around 30fps when zoomed completely out at end game)

    4GB Ram (speed 1333mghz)

    -------------------------------------------

    No components are overheating:

    Video card temp ~ 45C
    CPU temp ~ 44C

I hope that this is enough information.

Its not, but its a start

    Easy questions

How many cities do you have?

Are you in 2D strategic view, or 3d full world mode?

    I have 3 cities

Tried ending turn in 3d view - crash

Tired ending turn in strategic view - crash

Tried ending turn with all graphical options set to lowest in 3d view - crash

Tried ending turn with all graphical options set to lowest in strategic view - crash

    Need any more info

Are you able to see much of the world?

Can you see how many cities your opponents have, and how many workers they have?

My line of sight is pretty limited but i do know that the rest of the world is completely colonized. There are almost no free land spaces left (playing on huge map)

From what my line of sight shows me my neighbors in total have about 3 or 4 workers, mind you that is all i can see My neighbors do thought have plenty of military units and move them around each turn if that is of any concern.

    Side note:
turns take quite a while, anywhere from 1 to about 3 minutes. it started taking this long around turn 350 if i remember correctly.

ok, you MIGHT be hitting the "City bug" thats only been completely identified, by having too many cities yourself.

There is a patch in the works, that MAY be out early next week, but we dont know if it will fix existing saves, or not

so... 3 is to many cities?
so... in a future game i should only build 2?
i figured it would be something to do with going from turn 499 to 500 as it is going from the years 2049AD to 2050AD. 2050AD being the ending year for a time victory, but i have time victory turned off. thats what i thought. although i am no bug tester.

Nono, i meant that there is a bug that triggers on too many cities, but its only been replicated by players.

Id assume that a AI civ getting "too many cities" can trigger it too.

Ive never heard of anyone turning a time victory off, and crashing on turn 500, but thats a possibility as well

oh then maybe its Bismark... he has a score that is 2000 higher than anyone else and just went to war with a civ right beside him... maybe he is conquering a city and activating the bug? i don't know.

*sigh* guess i will have to start a new game.

yeah sure, updating windows will resolve bugs in the game

you could also check how many memory you have left. i saw that this game uses much more memory than it should, if your game context make it use more than windows has left (or a little less, by experience a windows above 90% usage is very borderline)

if it's the case, you'll have to wait for a fix for memory usage/leaking in some of next patches.

Since when is anything in Windows an improvement?

I saw the "Update Windows" and started laughing.

I am having similiar issues but i have in excess of 20 cities (mostly conquered puppets).

Having a helluva time keeping from going broke, but found a cool bug. My 2nd biggest city produces something like 109 hammers a turn. With that I would get maybe 20g, but instead I produce workers 1/turn and just sell them. I get 20g for each. This also doesn't count the ones I steal from the bad guys (ANYBODY BUT ME!!! \evil laughter)

Selling units off, isnt a bug

Windows is already fully updated and when playing the game I am only using roughly 60 - 70% of my total memory. The game only crashes on the transition from turn 499 to 500.
