Buddy mad at me over Civ V

When this game was about to come out my friend asked if it would be good. Of course I said yes. I hadn't spoken to him since and he just called me on the phone. It turns out that I'm a <censored> <censored> liar. He wants to know where his manual is at, and why it is downloading some huge file for the next 2 hours. I told him the disk just allows you to get the game. Then I told him about the graphics being off in multiplayer. So he goes well is there anything worth playing about it. I said yeah man the fighting is better but your rivers look like a kid drew on the screen with a crayola and that there are no wonder movies. Also at the end you just get a pop up msg box with some tabs no movie there either. You shouldn't be upset though because when you get home from work you can modify the game to your hearts content. It's really easy to learn! He told me that I owe him $50 bucks and hung up the phone.

Sorry to hear. Let him vent, he is just pissed. Hopefully he will cool off. If he dosn't then he was never a friend to you in the first place. You are better off without him.

We both have concealed weapon permits and listen to rap music. This is going to be a bad scene.

No this is a true story all of it. Everytime someone posts something that others might not agree with the same trolls show up and post that they are trolling.

    Fantastic.

I had pancakes for breakfast yesterday, with blueberry syrup....I was going to have whipped cream as well, but they were out.

What does this have to do with Civ V?

    Nothing.

    Just like the OP

I think it's more relevant than pancakes. My buddy is p'ed off at me because I told him this would be a good game. He didn't even get the damn game what am I supposed to tell him? Giving him the same routine that the want to be a mod in the future regulars are giving out is not cutting it. It's my fault for telling him this was a good game when it's not. There are no selling points other than... well you can program it yourself!

You said he didn't even get the game... Next time just one hit of acid and unplug the Internet so "the man" doesn't get you too!

I can see how many times you post man and to Dave, you don't actually get the game when you buy it. It's not on the disk.

Maybe you listen to too much rap music. The game is definitely on the disk. Sorry if it's too complicated for you and your 'friend'.

It's not my job to go over there and install it for him. When he put this crap game in his dvd it sent him on a 2 hour download.

But it's your job to offer uniformed reviews on games for him?

Are you trying to say he might want to reconcile the debt through the use of firearms?

I know it's supposed to be obvious, but I would have hoped a made-up post as the OP is would at least have been funnier.

I'm not sure what the point of this thread was, to be honest.

Even if he figures out how to install it the Steam server will go down and he won't be able to play it anyways.

"He wants to know where his manual is at, and why it is downloading some huge file for the next 2 hours. I told him the disk just allows you to get the game."

My first question is what do you mean by manual? the last real manual that i can remember was doom 2. Games now just tend to come with an install guide with maybe a little extra info. Second the disk just allows you to get the game? are you serious? do you even play games?

so you obviously don't like/approve of steam and you seem to dislike this game for your own reasons. your original post made it seem like you were defending the game, have you even played it? do you intend to? if not why would you ever tell someone that it was good?

You don't need it but it looks badass!

I personally am a great fan of the art of trolling. Someone wiriting a well thought troll and watching the readers buy it can be so entertaining.
Reading this one was like having to listen to someone's first guitar lessson, like watching a baby trying to copy what mommy does, like...well I hope you got the point, right?

You people are convinced that I'm trolling but this is a legit topic. Basically anything you don't like to read is trolling, yet you don't hesitate to hop into my thread and... troll it. That's all you are doing.

Not only did he buy the game and couldn't even figure out how to install it but he also had to have his internet hooked up. He waited a week. Then he calls me and says what is it downloading? I don't know I just assumed the game. I bought it off Steam so I have no idea what he downloaded. If you want to be helpful and not just troll my thread you could try to help me figure out what the hell he is doing wrong. That would be nice. I know he is going to be calling again this weekend at some point and I'll have to go over there. Do I buy games all of the time, no. Maybe they should try to entice me to buy the damn thing by putting a manual in there or fixing bugs. That might do it, but I don't expect any of you to relate. You like being jacked over and that's fine with me.

You wonder why you can't sell a video game? Take a look at this forum you idiot. It was hundreds of people complaining and you just pushed right through to kiss some ass. I love this game. It's great. I can't build anything. The AI sucks. I don't have anything to do but go to the forums and try to kiss as for a mod spot. Good luck with that the only one getting payed round here is Greg and his girl. The rest are just sheep.

What truly amazes me is the morons that can't wait to become mod of some site that aint worth a damn so they can ban everyone. You find these same personality types on every single game no matter how bad it is. You'll find them in a forum/chat with 1 user. Something's wrong with ya stop drinking out of the toilet bowl. At the very least remove the blue thing that changes the water color first.

Good thing he didn't read all those glowing reviews too! His head would have shot straight up in the air from all that Steam and molten lava would have bubbled out at the point of separation.

Sounds like he's got the disc in upside down. This is a common problem and there's a thread somewhere about it. A few thousand copies were made with the label printed on the wrong side.

dvd drive? Thought it was a cup holder.

    Sorry... you trolled me.

So... you have this buddy... didn't even have the internet? and he's living in a cardboard box, too. And so you thought you'd bring him into the Century of the Fruitbat... should have recommended Risk, to start with.

    But seriously folks !!

A priest, a minister, and a Rabbi download Civ 5 from Steam.
The Rabbi turns to the minister and asks, "Is this kosher?"
The minister turns to the priest and says, "Your in the hotseat, tell him."
The priest says, "What? I can't even get the cd into the floppy drive."

It's not your fault for having an opinion. You like the game. Fine. He heard from you it's a good game and made his own decision to buy the game but didn't like it. Too bad for him. He could have downloaded the demo first as that allows a fairly accurate depiction of the overall game play.
The fact that your friend is a foppin crybaby and is pissed at you for his own decision is his problem.
Tell him to get over it. You liked the game, he didn't

SC2 got great reviews, I played it and it's not my bag. Am I putting all the reviewers on a list and then subsequently going to knock them off? No. I get over it and play Civ V.

He actually works for SBC which is an internet provider in the area, and he does installations. There was some issue with his residence where they didn't have it up and running yet. I build his computers for him and he likes to ask my advice on related purchases. On this game I dropped the ball hard. We've no interest in multi player and neither of us play this game. I like to troll the forums though I've been a civ fan forever and frequent several other known forums for the game. Being misled by reviewers I lost face recommending the game. It's not a bad game it's just nowhere near the bomb like I had hoped.

Your story, while a nice try to fool people, is far too unconvincing. Humans don't get MAD over such trifles. Sure, Civ V isn't perfect or even great, but would a friend get MAD over it?

Pft. Constructive criticism would be time better spent, dear sir.

My story is true. Obviously the listening to rap music and shooting ourselves was just a joke. We don't hate each other or anything but yeah he does bust my balls about it. This thread is from way back when the game first came out and we were both excited to get the new version. He thought that since I had the game for over a week I had enough time to warn him about everything. I still had hope that they would fix it, but then reality won over.

I think this thread has run its natural course, and as there is little in here rather than random attacks and trolling I am closing it.
