Black Stripes across terrain

After jumping through a bunch of hoops, I got Civ5 running on my PC connected to my Vizio HD TV. Nvidia card, latest drivers, Windows 7 on a quad core Intel with 4gb memory.

I played a saved game from the steam cloud for a few turns and was amazed at how good the game looked on the big screen as opposed to my laptop.

Suddenly, mid-turn, black stripes appeared across the landscape. And I'm not talking about straight black stripes across the screen blocking the view. These stripes actually follow the landscape, over hills, and dim to barely visible over ocean tiles as if the stripes are under water. They flow under units and improvements. They're evenly spaced. It's as if the NFL came to CIV.

Anyone else seen this? I did a search on stripes in the forum and didn't find anything.

Any way you can take a pic, and if it doesnt show through on a screenshot, it may be a display issue with the TV

I'll have to install Snagit on that machine so I can do a screenshot. Later, the picture deteriorated more. It looked fine on the deep ocean or in diplomatic mode with another leader but the terrain was bad.

I saved the game and tried to re-start to see if the problem would go away. When I did, suddenly the program wouldn't recognize the cursor when clicking to continue past the legal screen. The game cursor was there but couldn't click through.

May need to hold off playing on this machine until a few more patches down the line. It plays well on my laptop.
