Is there a way to manually patch CIV 5 through Steam?

well, I have disabled Steam on start up, and was wondering if there was a way to hit "patch now" or check on past patches that were applied. I read a post on here a few days ago about a guys who's game was never updated by Steam, and he had to do it manually...but didnt state how.

If there is a way to do exactly that, I'm not sure how. You might want to check the Steam support site, as it has extensive FAQs.

In Steam if you right-click then go to the properties of the game, then look at the "Updates" tab you can see if the game is set to automatically update. If you don't have steam running, it does check to see if you have updates whenever you launch the game.

The other way to sort of 'manually' do it, is to check the integrity cache of the game, under the 'local files' tab. This will check the game is up to date vs the current distributed version.

Start steam and go to civ5 properties->updates, and check "always keep this game up to date". Then start the game
