Unhappy Sid Meier's Pirates! for Wii Help

Ok. I figured out how to take on a city but we still can't figure out how to get to buried treasure or family members to rescue them.

Has any one had this problem? Can anyone help?

Are you looking for a walkthrough or is there something going awry in the game that's not letting you complete something?

When you receive a map that shows a treasure or where a family member is you are supposed to find the spot on the map to find what you are looking for. In the past you had to beach your ship and go ashore to locate the buried treasure or the house where the family member was being held.

I have not found a way to do this. It is frustrating. The ships just spin in circles. So at this time, I cannot get the treasure of other Pirates or rescue the family.

You have to go to the area on the map, and then use your spyglass to look around. Once you've "spotted" the treasure or the house with the family member, THEN the game will let you beach your boat and collect. Hope this helps

I cant wait to pick up a copy this week and try it out... one question for the company. Why is this so downplayed? I dont even see it on the firaxis or 2k sites, especially if today is the official release date? Sure we can find small bits of info if we look hard enough.
I am hoping this release does well enough to encourage a full update of the PC version, but am scared of the lack of promotion...

The game actually released last Tuesday! If you head over to www.facebook.com/2KGames you'll see an awesome app and a bunch of blogs about the game from the Producer - they're pretty great.

    We love Pirates. :-)

    Can't Find My Maps

Can you tell me where to find my maps? I can find the main map, but I have received the full map to find my sister, but can't look at it since it was given to me. Same with a treasure map. Am I missing something in one of the menus?

Smile HELP for those that need it

! have been playing this franchise for almost 20+ years now and this version is great +/- a few parts of the game but we can't have everything......Can we!!!!

Right to the reason i'm here kets answer a few questions raised here:

jl99at- if you want to view your treasure maps or those to Find the family and lost cities. When at SEA press the Minus button on the Remote - this will show your current list of maps progress and the number of achievements you have gained. select any of these with the pointer and the information or maps will be displayed.

rpgwidow- when trying to locate your family or lost treasures once the complete map has been located, sail to the area suggested (some areas are not quite as obvious as others to find) then search the land looking for the LANDMARKS indicated on the MAP, by using you SPYGLASS to view the landmarks (if you have done this correctly the name of the land mark will be shown)
Note: some times you might need to change the view of the ship at sea by pressing the 1 button this will help locate those landmarks further inshore.

Once you have located all the landmarks on the map, SEARCH the area of the map inrelation to the X with the SPYGLASS, you should now see the CROSS AND BONES or a new landmark (ie: Gates for the lost Inca temple with £50,000 in gold to be had)

Now if you direct your ship close on the location you will now collect your treasure.

When it comes to saving family you will not always see a new landmark so search the area slowly with the SPYGLASS once spotted the game will take you straight to the Family via the ingame movies.

I hope this helps guys and girls

any questions please ask i will try to help!!!

I hope I'm posting this in the right spot. I've seen this question before, but no answer.

The problem I'm having is when the family member is inland, middle of Cuba in this case, I find no way of rescuing them. More precisely, how does one get his crew off of the boat? I recall in older versions simply running into the shoreline and moving to the treasure. Whenever I move my ship to the shoreline, it just flops around like a fish out of water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the help. I have used the spyglass to find the shed which says lost uncle underneath it. The area I'm looking at is just northwest of santiago directly next to a marker named captain's creek. There is no water near enough to simply sail to him. If you are not able to go ashore, is it impossible for me to rescue him? Thanks again.

Greetings fellow rogues! I have enjoyed this game in its different formats at different times over the decades and am happy to now be able to play it on my Wii. A number of my questions have already been answered above (thanks!). Two questions that havn't been answered yet:

    1) Is it possible to attack a city by land invasion on this version? If so, how?

    2) Is it possible to attack a city by bombardment when they apparently aren't yet angry enough to bar your entry otherwise. Sometimes the city will even fire cannons at my ships but when I try to enter I am allowed entry and not able to attack. Does the answer to this question also depend on your rank?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide, mateys!

I have a similar problem. My uncle is lost south of Nomre de Dios. If you place the boat just left of the city, press 1 to change the view. Look in the spyglass and the house will appear on the shore far south of the city. So far so good. How do I get to him? I have tried to go a shore with boats at the whole coast line and still nothing...is this a bug? I´m going bananas...

I can see the house in the spyglass but still nothing happens...

Hi desdichado, you might want to try sailing up or down the coast a bit to find another city at which to land.

I bought this game the other week and have been playing it daily and am now on my second run.

I too wonder how come i just can't attack a town as I am a Pirate.

right now, i am trying to find a treasure galleon so i can get futher on my quest of things to find this guys hide-out, anyone know of a good area to sail around to fins one? the wenches at the bar aren't being of any help any more.......

and what is the endding date of the game so i know if i am running out of time or not?

i have also taken notice that shoem ships can fire cannon balls and chain shot at the same time - i have yet never been able to shoot both at once - is this just a glitch in the programming?

    TIPS

oh, another tip for the gamers here, don't bother dividing up the loot, you'll end up loosing months in town after doing so (and you'll loose all of your ships but your flag ship)

as to those trying to find people and treasure, you do need to use your spyglass in the area (where shown on your map) to find the item/person - but here's another tip, lissen to the music, it'll change when your ship is in the area where you should be looking. once you find the item in question, you pretty much have to beach you ship right next to it to get to it

i must say i love this game and the free play it gives you.

and want to know when they are coming out with a Pirates II (with longer playing time) and would they consider maybe a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea game and make it similar to this, but give the option of being either the professor, nemo, the navy (i think a Star Wars game like this would also be cool!

    I think it's a glitch

The treasure, relative, and lost city locations rotate from game to game. I ran into the same problem with Roc Brasiliwhat'shisname's buried treasure in the exact same location you are talking about. I tried everything to get to that treasure. I found it in the spy glass, it appeared, but I could never reach it. I tried all up and down the north and south coastlines. It is actually closest to the sea on the south shore, west of Santiago. I must have wasted ten years of my character's life, and countless hours of my own life, before giving up. I even tried different ships, like the war canoe, thinking I am just too big to hit it at the right angle. NOTHING WORKED! I found every relative and four lost cities, so it's not user error! This is a VERY frustrating glitch in the Wii version. Restarting the game and hoping that location doesn't pop-up is my only solution. Please notify me if I'm wrong. I'd love to win!!

  20. Sid Meiers Civilisation 5 is really cool shall i buy it ?

Land on the coast near the city and walk the landing party close to the city and it will have a menu asking if you want to attack the city.

BTW something I learned only recently, if you bombard the town from your ships the towns troop count will go down (more the longer you do it). Higherr difficulties have more 'pirate hunter' ships to send out that make this more difficult.

I just wanted to chime in that I am one of the sad players whose first Count Capture on the Wii after playing through the whole story was impossible. His jungle abode is on the coast behind/south of Puerto Bello and since you can't get to that ocean or march your rowdy bunch across land he will forever be free of my revenge...
