Yeah, it's funny because I actually noticed that the first thread was closed last night when I wanted to post in it, so thanks for starting a new one!
Well, let's not get this off-topic right at the start. Regardless of why it was closed (I have no idea), hopefully we can continue to talk about modding in this second modding thread.
So, on-topic...
I did try the main mod that's out there for checkpoint loading but I found that it's very buggy. It would have been kind of helpful I guess if I had bothered to try it a week ago, but now I guess I don't really need it anymore, especially considering how buggy it is.
I really wish this feature was included in the game in the first place. I very much hope that the developers will choose to unlock and/or polish this feature for a future update to the game.
Some of the chapters in the game are kind of long. If you want to replay only the second half or a later part in the chapter, it's tedious to start at the beginning of the chapter.

Scar on face, bullet holes on Vito's chest (maybe a few too many lol) and a tattoo of a fallen angel with "momma", "Franky" (Vito's sister) and "Joe" inscribed on it.

The colt sound does not represent how it sounds ingame, i've replaced it with a better sound since the video was recorded.
I got the weapon sound mod a while ago
Now why is it that people who are at home, not getting paid, without a modding kit, can create awesome customizations for Mafia II and not the Official Team who do this for their living?
They should of implemented a Modding Section in console + PC similar to LBP.

This is xmetalxthrasherx's Mafia II Weapons Overhaul & Realism mod. It changes the stats for all weapons and many other gameplay aspects as listed in the readme.
Changes list:
WEAPONS:
All pistols now have a higher rate of fire. (I figure you should be allowed to fire the pistols in as quick of a succession as you'd like, only at the price of accuracy. IE. if you gun like a mad man you'll hit nothing.)
Colt 1911's made slight stronger (They felt a bit like pea shooters).
.357 Magnum's damage increased along with maximal accuracy increased.
Shotgun's damage and accuracy increased (Sometime the gun felt like it was loaded with rock salt shell. Also, let's face it, while shotguns aren't known for they're range they can be effective up to 50ft)
All Machine guns and submachine guns changed so that the cross hairs only grow slightly while firing, but to make up for it the gun rock in different directions more making them more difficult to control
All guns do not reset from recoil automatically, much like in real life it is left up to you to re-align your shot.
All ammo capacity for all guns has been cut down to 1 loaded magazine + 2 extra mags.
GAMEPLAY:
Camera while in cover is closer to player.
Camera while in cover at a corner will no longer position the camera in a way that makes peaking around corners too easy.
Camera while in cover and crouching has been lowered to make seeing over cover too easy.
Both the player and enemies are much less damage sponges and can take minimal damage before dying, this is to less of an effect for the player, however.
Enemy AI was changed so that they are far less brave. Instead of standing out in the open to shoot they stand a higher chance now of leaning out of cover to attack you.
Heath regeneration has been knocked down from 80 to 20, meaning your health will regrenerate much slower and not quickly enough to save you in a fire fight.

Why can't 2K Just realese a SDK? It would be much easier to mod the game. And who knows if they did then maybe more copies would be sold. (at least on PC.)
Well for one thing, Most main stream game publishers don't seem to do it, although it didn't seem to harm Bethesda overmuch with Oblivion!
Secondly: I don't think it would sit too well with an organisation who is looking to garner a few more dollars with DLCs. They may not appreciate the prospect of third party competition.
Anyhow, SDK's aren't really necessary to produce decent mods. They are just a tool to speed up the production and development of a particular title. Wouldn't do for the production staff to have to hex edit the machine code every time they want to modify or even test some programme change, now would it!
Many modders are able to compile their own editing tools without reference to the SDK. Sure, it isn't so easy as having it, but bearing in mind they do not have have the same time constraints, they can, over time , produce work that is every bit as good ( and sometimes better), than the original.
We'll just have to wait to see how things develop. In a way, I kind of hope that major third party modding won't be necessary. 2K have certainly got much more material that could be used than is available to anyone else. Whether they have the finance, time or inclination to use it remains to be seen.
why this didnt make it into the game confuses me.this is awesome shooting from a car

Sorry bit off topic
I am a console gamer (360 and ps3) and I am thinking of getting a friend to build me a pc with the requirements and specs i need for mafia 2. so getting to my point i just wanted to ask if there is any modding sites other than mafia scene.
And what graphics card is better ATI or Nvidia
p.s
wat mods are the best if u have a link can u pls post it
thanks
EddieScarpa112
VGA Card for MAFIA II is nvidia.
Its because MAFIA II use technology sponsored by nvidia that work best in Nvidia GPU.
if you use ATi GPU, the tech "PhysX" still can work using CPU but its very heavy
as for mods,
you can visit mafiascene.com/forum then go to the topic you want
