From the advertising bit in Steam, I found this, and it seemed to work exactly as described:

To install, simply navigate to the "Tools" section of your Steam game library and find "Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK" in the list. Install that. Create stuff. Profit*.
    *Profit not guaranteed or likely.

.... however.... when I click on ModBuddy in the menu that comes up when running the SDK I get the following dialog/error:

    ModBuddy

Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application.
    Nice....

    You need:-

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) Redistributable Package

which is found here - English Version
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

I think it says this somewhere in the error message.

No, it doesn't say that in the error message, the entire error message is quoted above. But thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. Figures too, this machine has VS 2003 and 2008, but not 2010.

BTW, the mod wiki mentions it, but doesn't specifically say you need to get it (so it could be assumed to be delivered along with the fileset from Steam):

    http://wiki.2kgames.com/civ5/index.php/Mod_Buddy
ModBuddy is built off of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Isolated Shell.

What's "not working"? Not downloading, not installing, not completed the install, can't start the SDK from the start-menu/shortcut, can't launch a tool from the "4 tools menu", specific tool not starting?

Specifics of what you've managed to do and then what does and doesn't happen will help us to help you.

For some reason my desktop shortcut wont work for the SDK. It says that the type of file is an internet shortcut but I don't know how to change it. I have to go through the Steam library. But when I do I can get the the menu and thats it. When I click on World Builder it just gives me an error. I tried uninstalling and re-installing but that did not work. Anyone know whats wrong?
