How in the world could such a game launch without Full MP capability.
There should have been a warning label on the box that said
NO PBEM.....NO Hotseat......NO Local Lan that works.
So to play with my daughter at home. I have to play Civ 4 !

LAN is supposed to be properly implemented in the released version, though I have not tried it yet, and by your post it is apparently not working for you. I would be curious to hear if you can even get connected, since I will be trying LAN in the future. Hotseat is set for a future patch. We can only hope for PBEM.
