Thread: How to figure out my installation path?

How to figure out my installation path?

Sorry for the total noob question that apparently no one else has had to ask, but, in order to run ModBuddy it wants to know my "Civilization 5 Path" and "Civilization 5 User Path" and I just can't seem to figure out where the game is installed to. I've looked in Program Files for 2K and Firaxis folders--it isn't there. Looking in the Properties of the shortcut just gives me some Steam-related nonsense (sorry, I've never used Steam before. But just putting steam://rungameid/8930 in for the installation path doesn't seem to work.)

Can someone take enough pity on a gaming invalid to tell me where to find these paths?

I accidentally used the wrong paths when starting Modbuddy and I can't find anywhere to change the paths under tools or anything. Anywhere know where to set the paths up? Thanks.

Also I'm assuming since it doesn't say that "User Path" is where your saved files from Modbuddy go? What did it need with the "Civilization 5" path?

I also need to know how to change a path once it's set. I had the Assets path set correctly in Nexus, and now suddenly it's looking somewhere else and I can't figure out how to change it back to the correct path.

Well for Nexus i had to set my path in the registry, as i set it wrong the first time around. It should be set to: <Steam Install Path>\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v or at least that's what stopped the error from popping up each time i started Nexus, it's possible to right click the tabs in Nexus and go to some sort of setting page where i could set Asset and Executable Path or something, but the Assets path didn't seem to do a whole lot, so that's why i went to the registry.

So i guess you have to do the same thing with ModBuddy, but i haven't tried it yet so won't say for sure.

Anyway for Nexus, in regedit go to: HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3889874340-1232587823-358049644-1001\Software\Firaxis\Tools, may be different, but try to find Firaxis\Tools, and there is a path you can set, i set mine to: <Steam Install Path>\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization v

    Thanks, that worked.

Now if only I could figure out Nexus itself! For a beginner, it's pretty much incomprehensible. So much for thinking I might teach myself to do some modding without any previous experience.

Changing the path in ModBuddy can be done in Tools->Options, then select Civilization 5 on the side tab.
