    Worst Civ Ever!!!

OMFG!!! waited 2 months for this game to come out and what a waste of time,

    Things im most disappointed with;

    lack of future technologies
lack of units in future tech era
    computer AI lacks aggresive behaviour

I complain about this because i feel its unfair to charge £35.99 for a game that just doesnt seem to have any real thought put into it. my 11 year old brother could design a future era with more to do

I mean come on your not aloud in space or deep sea ventures, theres no natural disasters,

Ive been an avid sid meier's fan for a few years, my advice play civilization 2 its got more interest than this crap

Congratz to 2k games on the undated graphics, looks real smart...... thats about as much credit as your gonna get from me.

Civ 5 = Just another game to add to the collection and nothing else

Not trying to be harsh, but why create a new thread for this? There are already tons out there expressing their discontent with the game. Was one more really necessary? What is new about yours that keeps it from falling into the same category as the other complaint threads?

Maybe like a lot of others he's pissed he paid a load of money in very hard times for a pile of cut down, broken crap. That another great pc franchise has just bitten the dust, to be replaced with grey sludge. But hey, at least we get 'steam achievements' now just like the x-box fan boys get when playing halo.

You know, that's fine if he feels that way. But I don't see how it warrants a new thread when there's already a plethora of threads expressing this opinion.

Not like I want to get in the way of someone complaining about a game they bought, but:

Civ 1, 2, and 3 had no future technologies. Technically Civ 4 didn't have them either. It had a single mod that added a dozen or so techs and a small collection of units.

No civ game has ever had any focus on future tech. Even Call To Power and Call To Power 2 had only a weak future era.

If you bought this game expecting it to have a rich future era then you didn't research very well.

There is no real future era. It shouldn't be surprising that there aren't many units for it.

On the contrary, I found the AI surprisingly aggressive when on the same continent. It seems almost happy to start wars for no reason other than the desire to see its units in action. Once it has to cross the water to fight, however, it seems much more sheepish.

    GDR?
What? Were you playing on settler? All the AI has is aggressive behavior!

How is Civ 2 any better then?
It didn't have future tech. It didn't have space or deep sea ventures. It had no futuristic units.
If that's what you were expecting you really should look into the Galactic Civilization games. Civilization was never any of the things you seem to want.

Additionally, what specific advice would you recommend then? What future units did you want to see? what future tech were you thinking of?

It's easy to ☺☺☺☺☺ about something but I think Firaxis is more likely to listen to a criticism that's constructive IMHO.

PS: When your 11 year old brother finishes his future era mod be sure to post it.

pardon for beeing impolite but if the money really hurts you that much you should have a look at what you buy. not buying something and complain afterwards. and espacially don't buy any games on release you should know that by now.

Honestly if someone looking for 'future tech tree' he should first check all 'civilization made' games - check Alpha Centauri

And Civ 5 is not that bad, truth is that AI it's not that aggressive, but this give you chance to make diplomacy and push for instance one country attack another with you etc.

Sorry but like a fool I took all the reviews at face value, I trusted in the franchise, I believed the hype. This is one game I thought they couldn't mess up or dumb down but like most PC games these days it is a waste of money and time.

Where in the reviews did it explain that the hot seat was removed? That huge amounts of content from Civ4 would be ☺☺☺☺-canned? That the game moves like a snail on a good gaming PC? That it's full of bugs? Where was I informed, as a customer, with a warning that the game will play as advertised only after a few years, once it gets patched, has a couple of expensive expansion packs and the modding community get at it to fix what shouldn't have been sold broken in the first place.

One thing you're right about, loyalty is for saps. This was the last PC franchise I would buy before waiting a while because it was constantly improving over the years. That loyalty is dead now. I hope the new 'fans' can keep it going another 15+ years.

    seems stupid

to be honest i was pretty pissed about an hour ago,

civ 2 u could actually see the space program by selecting to go into space and view the space station, this wasnt the case.

im not gonna ☺☺☺☺☺ about it anymore just chuck the ideas in my head down on this forum

to the people at 2k games try watching star trek or playing command and conquer

In the future era i dont think bullets mean anything

Laser research should replace all bullet using units I.E
Laser/Prism Tanks - C&C these were dam effective
Laser Solider's - jesus take a look at star wars

Introduce Plasma Tech - Warp Engines , Hovver Technoglies
    Plasma Bomber, Plasma Tank

By plasma I mean a kind of blue energy that ELIMINATES electrical units or an ELECTRICAL source

For the future era aswell, EVER HEARD OF AN ION CANNON? C&C Generals

TELEPORTATION - if you think im being over zealous and stupid, whats a GIANT DEATH ROBOT......

I could do this all dam day but im not gettin paid for it

Another idea..... sadam hussain killed millions of people with biological warfare and yet not once on civ5 have i seen chemical warfare option

OH and to the person who posted about the other civ games
civ 2 had giant glass domes surronding the city to protect from POLLUTION (not present in civ5) call this the TERRA project for all I care,

Either way do you people get my point? there was no creative talent used when making this game

Pay me £100 and ill give 2kgames an epic Civ6 just from the ideas in my head

you're upset that you can't research 'alien' tech? at most that's 3-5 techs at the very end of the game. Most people have won by then. Civ4 handled this with a mod.

There were plenty of previews of the game content online. The removal of espionage and religion was common knowledge.

As for the AI, it is definitely more aggressive. I tend to play huge/marathon games with all 18 civs, and the AI kills off more civs than I do. It's plenty aggressive.

is the game perfect? no. Sadly in todays world companies are all too ready to ship an unfinished product and then patch it to completion at a later date. I'd say it's a half step better than basic civ4. Like civ4 it's going to rely on mods and expansions to flesh it out. That's how the gaming industry works.

I think the game is fun as hell, I am as addicted as I was in civ 3 and 4. Needs some updates... But till then there are all sorts of good times to be had. Feels just as fun and addicting as cov 4 was at release! And that game had similar issues as well.

basic setting takes 4-8 hours to play a single game. so yeah, 22 hours is considered on the long side.

If you buy an role playing game you're getting at most 2o to 30 hours of content.

you got 22 in a single game of civ. And the next one will be different.

If there's stuff you'd like, add it when the modding tool comes out.

    it's just that easy.

Like I said, no PC game is ever finished on release. If you don't like that all I can say is wait a year for them to release a 'gold' edition with all of the inevitable expansion packs added in. Then read the online reviews and decide.

Ok, I think we need to tell you what we've been telling alot of the people complaining that Civ 5 doesn't have everything that Civ 4 did.

This is Civ 5. It's not Civ 2 2.0. It's not an expansion to Civ 2. It's an entirely new game, with new rules, new mechanics, new graphics, and new gameplay. They don't just upgrade the last title to make the next one, they make a new game.

    Deal with it.

Call it something else then because calling it Civ5 and tying it to the other games in the series stinks of false advertising. All the Civs, all the way up have been improvements over the last instalment. This is a different game, not an improvement on what followed before it.

Civ IV was a completely different game fame from the last installment.

Also, whether or not Civ 5 is an improvement is very subjective. Personally, I believe it is. I like it more than I liked Civ 4, and I find myself greatly enjoying my time with it. Can't wait for work to end, so I can go back and play more!

i would not say that it is an improvement in every aspect. if you call slimming something down an improvement then you are right.
for me it lost too much on depth of the game in this form.
I still play it because i want to understand it and will wait how will it progress ( mods, expansion packs )
    my 2 cent
