Game will say its starting up...then nothing

So I seem to of tried everything, pretty depressed right now, I installed the game, installed steam, everything went quite smoothly.

But anytime I tried to start the game I would get the loading box that says Civilization V is starting, the screen would disappear then there is a flash of some kind of window (it says Civ V divx 9)

So that screen will flash for 1 second then absolutely nothing.....

Am I suppose to wait for a patch? Am I doing something wrong?

Your OS, APPEARS to be pirated
Your Video card is 8 years old, and WELL below minimum spec.
The driver on your video card is 3 years old

I dont think ANY advice i provide will be able to help this machine run the game

Really my OS looks pirated? umm, the cd was purchased through Indiana University, they have some special deal with Microsoft where I could buy it for 10 bucks because I am a student...I dont know if that explains what you are seeing.

Also the computer was built from scratch about 5 years back...

But the graphic card I have wont run this game? So if I replaced my card, everything should be all rainbows and sunshine?

Right, the reason i say It LOOKS pirated (and by no means to i intend to suggest you did) is 2 fold

Its a X64 XP, those arent common
    Second
System Manufacturer: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
System Model: To Be Filled By O.E.M.

Those indicate, that DXDIAG, is thinking it is OEM software, and there should be information about the OEM in the registry somewhere.

Buying from a university, definately also explains those 2 anomalies

But yes, the video card, even if everything else is PERFECTLY updated, will likely ALWAYS crash

Thanks for the help with the graphics card, I went out and bought a new card and now the game works great, I played it last night, almost to the modern era and havent experienced a problem
