Is there a patch on the way for the modbuddy error, or was it intended to fail at launch requiring the separate download?
Hours after my last post still no Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK
http://i54.tinypic.com/34pe3iv.png
Offline or online, it makes no difference.
These are what I've tried:
re-log in & out Steam,
restart Steam,
restart computer,
reinstalled Steam (its registry & program files flushed),
deleted ClientRegistry.blob (so that Steam automatically re-update again)

I have no problem playing games and downloading separate mods. My bets are that this is a server-related issue. I live in an Asian country.
I click on any of the launch buttons and the launch screen just disappears, nothing happens.
I want to edit the Earth map on civ 5 but i cannot see it... where is this located under steam?
Please someone tell me how to launch it, i click on the icon and it just goes to a screen that says Civ V World Builder and it does nothing, and sometimes it opens the Civ V launch screen and I launch it in Direc X 10&11 and it dosen't do anything, someone please help me i want to make some worlds!!!!![]()
The mod tools you all saying is it the SDK?
The SDK is a 3rd map editor right?
I have tried the SDK, editing the map is ok but I can't edit the player start location. I tried a few experiments and found out that not only the start location is not working, the adding of units or cities is also not working!!!
Can someone here got the SDK working provide some simple guide???
I am using the SDK to create the map and load the map in CIV V single player...and I did go through the part where you specify the length, difficulties and number of player screen...
Did I did something wrong???
Like a few others in this thread "Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK" is not on my list.To get to them, go to the "Tools" tab in Steam (under Library) and look for "Sid Meier's Civilization V SDK"
If you don't see it, try restarting Steam.
I am in the online mode.
I have followed the suggestions in this thread.
Any ideas?
Look over there, it's a flying goat!
This probably won't work, but if anyone wants to try it out:
€: edit
This is a Steam-backup of the Civ 5 SDK
Just kinda curious what Steam will tell those that can't install the SDK when trying to run this file : D

Think this is a big no-no, Dreamer. Pretty sure Greg already mentioned that external links to the SDK were not allowed.

*cough*
External links? *Looks around innocently*
Alrighty, sorry, edited out. Then again, it was the regular Steam-Backup, not a direct copy of the files, thus you should only be able to use it when you have Steam installed and Civ 5 is activated on your account :/
Then again, exactly for that reason it most likely wouldn't help anyways![]()
I also don't see the SDK in the tools list. However, I only have Civ V demo right now. Is this not viewable until after I already have activated the full game?
Yes, you won't see the SDK (or be able to install it with backups) unless you have Civ 5 in your games library (the full version that is)
My first problem: Finding steam - it's no where referred to at the CIV 5 site through link. So, I googled. Mission accomplished.
My second problem: My Civ 5 (steam?) account id and password not recognized (yes I used the same one when I installed). So, thinking this is yet another account to set up... I set up a steam account.
My third problem: I cannot locate the library.
These are the headings I see:
STORE Community NEWS FORUMS ABOUT SUPPORT STATS
No subdirectory has the library in it.
The screen shots provided do not include the link that I might paste into my browser to access the library. Any ideas?
Those are the headers of the Steam store -> you're probably in the Web interface.
What you need to play Civ 5 though is Steam (the software)
http://cdn.steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi
Oh, and yes - it's the same account as before, so don't worry, no need to sign up yet another time ;D
Mods are downloaded in-game, through a separate service that isn't actually connected to Steam (it's provided through GameSpy, but you don't need an account to download mods, only to upload).
Once in the game, you just choose the "Mods" option, and then (IIRC) "Browse Mods" and you get to browse all of the mods online or installed.
Anyone can help with this problem launching WorldBuilder?:

I am having some problems with the worldbuilder not displaying any menu buttons. The last time it worked for me was Oct 10, Saturday. The following morning the worldbuilder would only load without any menu options (new map, load map, etc) to create or edit maps. I have removed the software completely and performed a clean install on both game and tool but it just will work correctly. I am at a lost now of what could be causing it. If anyone knows what the cause could be or any suggestion please reply. Thank you.
C:\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5
config.ini will be below the folders.
I also cannot launch Worldbuilder, although the other SDK tools work fine. I've detailed the problem in a 2K Games Support thread, a CivFanatics thread, and I've called tech support, but still haven't got a solution. The gist of the problem is that I get a FileNotFoundExceptionError when I try to launch Worldbuilder, although the other SDK tools work fine. The error is:
Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException
Source: WorldBuilder
Thread: Main Thread
Description: Could not load file or assembly 'PresentationFramework, Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=XXXXXXXX' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Any ideas what's going wrong here?
does it means i can only get the mod if i buy the game off steam? if i brought the retail version of it what should i do?
The tuner's part of the mod tools
-> In Steam under the Tools-section, start the Sid Meier's Civ 5 SDK and select FireTuner
Now start the game and there you go
It doesn't!
As everyone has to activate their game via Steam (no matter whether you bought it in a retail store or online), you can access mods like everyone else from the ingame mods section![]()
Is it possible that the mods can render the game itself unplayable (eg with crashes, cause of bugs, etc.)?
The statement "use at own risk" is an effective deterrent.
-.-
Mods can definitely cause bugs -- probably crashes as well -- though most likely only while the mods are being used.
How long until REAL modding will be allowed (source release)
I don't care for these superficial tweaks
Any ETA for the upload_mod (through the usual Gamespy applet) online tool function which shows a "Coming Soon" slot for the Screenshot of our MODs? I'm just sooooo tired of staring at the same'old default (ya'know, the one with the stamp!) for everything while i browse.
I installed the SDK...went to world builder...and a screen that say CivV world builder...that's it, no buttons, no options, nothing. Just a screen. ??? Seriously. JUST a screen image that says Civilization V world builder. So, obviously, I would like to know what do I do now? I'm so confused, I can't even hash out a reasonable question...lol.
IIRC it took around 6 months
