Steam-Error: The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time.

I've been playing with no problems since Tuesday, but today I got on and can't start the game. If I click on the Civ shortcut, it immediately returns to desktop. If I try and start through steam I get the following error:

    Steam-Error

    The game is currently unavailable.
Please try again at another time.

Does anyone know what's going on?

This has been going on for about an hour, and I've restarted my PC twice. I have verified that my other steam games are working properly.

It happened to me, and when I went to check on my game directory, I discovered that Steam had "verified" away my CivilizationV.exe A bit later, I ran the Steam verify option and got a new CivilizationV.exe, this one was version 1.0.0.20. Guessing it must be connected to the patch.

So yeah, you might try seeing if your CivilizationV.exe or CivilizationV_DX11.exe got verified out of existence. To get it back, try exiting and reloading Steam, then right-click Civilization V, click Properties, click Local Files, click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Good luck to you,

You can also follow the steps found in this link from the Steam KB.
