Civ 5 crashes on end of turn
Civ 5 is crashing after a few turns playing with Egyptians.
I tried starting the game a few times on tiny and the result was the same, after 8-9 turns it crashes to desktop when I press "End turn"
I have a few games saved right before the turn when they crash. Every time I load them up and press end of turn, it crashes.
The longest game I played was the 1st I played, with the Romans. That one crashed somewhere before Renaissance. Same thing, if I try to load the saved game, it crashes again when I press the end of turn.
Basically, I am unable to play the game!
I downloaded and installed the latest nVidia drivers, I change the resolution and video quality to low, I tried windowed and full screen. Steam automatically downloaded v.17, v.20 of the patches and the result is still the same.
I have a bunch of dump files generated but I don't see a way to send it to support. The database.log file contains many entries like "Invalid Reference on ..."
I had high hopes for this game being a fan since Civ 1, but now I am incredibly disappointed. Looks like "alpha" quality software, released very prematurely at the expense of the idiots who buy it...
A great game on the verge of losing a good amount of its fan base...

Your sound driver is unsigned - please update it with an official signed driver
Your Video card is JUST below minimum, so please make sure youre playing in windowed mode, with all graphical options to the lowest option for that category.

I'll reduce the graphics to the minimum and give that a try. But the thing is, the 1st game went on for 100 turns. Now I can't get a game past 9th turn.
I always had Creative and they always have unsigned drivers since they don't like Microsoft signing. It's also the most popular sound card company. I can't see this as a problem
-
I cant either, just ruling EVERYTHING out
-
Solution - in my case anyway
I had exactly this problem (well not exactly 9 turns but similar). Turns out I'd increased the graphics options and most of them did nothing problematic apart from making the game slower, but leader scene quality above low caused a crash. (I'm not complaining about this as my graphics card is three years old.)
This meant that at the same sort of early stage in the game, I would meet my first new leader, during their turn, i.e. when I had clicked new turn, and the game would crash - but it would have tried to display the leader scene before showing their unit move into my field of view, so I didn't even know I had met a new leader. I diagnosed this by resetting the video options, which solved the crash and hey presto the first new thing I saw was a leader screen.
I had thought the leader scene quality would be the safest parameter to increase but evidently I was wrong!
EDIT - turns out this wasn't enough to consistently prevent the crash. With all video settings back to defaults it seems to be more stable. I don't have time to check all of them and see which one it was though!

I'm having same kind of problem, on the end of a random turn (its not early game for me which makes it even more frustrating) game just crashes (and keeps crashing every time i try to load, even if i load a turn far back it crashes on the same turn as before).
Few things that are different, it is 100% not because of Faction leader options (because in my latest crashed game i already discovered every country), and the first few times i played game didn't crash for over 400 turns, but lately it has become so frequent and annoying that i just uninstalled the game yesterday even tho i really love it and am playing on difficulty 5 and 6.
My pc is above minimum and almost optimum spec (apart from the processor AMD dual core 4000+)

With all respect, you're not.
A thread from 5 months ago, was in regards to a different build of the game.
If you can open a new thread, please do, and we will try to work you through it.

Game Freezes after about 90 - 100 turns
Okay,
Specifically, the game crashes (blue screen w/ memory dump) after about 90 -100 turns. Restarting the game from save means only 5 - 10 more turns before another crash.
None of the posted fixes have worked. There's very few (if any) reposts that the probable fixes work. It's not like anyone sees a GIANT, "Hey, I had this problem and doing 'x' worked!"
So I know I have to go through the "what's your system" thingy and post it. What do you neeed to know about my PC so we can get through the RTFM phase.
And after we are complete with this phase, when is 2K Games going to post a real fix to this issue? GEEZ What a piece of crap software! Great game but horrible stabililty!
-
There is no "real fix" to an issue like this. It is specific to each machine.
Please open your own thread, and post your DXDIAG
