    Patch won't download...

I've tried everything to get Steam to update my game with the hotfix from yesterday and it refuses...

and yes it is set to auto update and it is online.

How the heck do I get the 1.0.0.17 patch? God I hate Steam...

If you are having issues with the Steam client - the Steam forums would be a better place to post your issues. I had 0 issues(as well as 99% of others) updating games with Steam.

It probably is already patched to 10017. At one of the initial menu screen you can see what version of Civ 5 you're running -a little number at the bottom middle.

Steam forums? No. I purchased this game retail from the box. I own no other steam games and have nothing to compare it to. As far as I'm concerned the only support I should need to receive is from the company I purchased the product from.

edit: sorry didn't see the most recent post, no it's still 1.0.0.7 at the bottom.

That's fine - don't expect to get support from 2K when your issue is with the Steam client. If you don't like it, then in all honesty, that's too bad - just uninstall the game and quit buying products released through Steam. I purchased a prebuilt computer - but if I'm having issues with one specific piece of hardware I always check the manufacturers site before checking Alienware's.

Please check to see what version you currently have[Leo graciously told you how] and we will try to help you from there.

I'm guessing that steam has already auto-updated your client to 10017. You should load and check at that screen that indicates the version.

    I'm afraid it's still showing 1.0.0.7.

Interesting perspective but I also own an alienware (laptop) and I always chat with their customer service (through Dell) when I have a problem. I suspect if they ever passed the buck to a manufacturer website their business would be substantially less succesfull than it is now.

I do appreciate any help or suggestions however.

Just a side note: If you are only using Alienware as support then your drivers are probably insanely out of date. Nvidia just released the latest drivers for their cards within the past month - while the ones Alienware offers is about a year out of date. So you could experience a lot of issues with the game from a GPU perspective. I don't know what machine you have - but Alienware gave me a bunch of garbage about having Nvidia drivers installed - but my SLI will not work properly on any game made within the past year with their drivers(have to keep the Nvidia drivers up to date).

    Eureka!

Changed download region (from Houston, TX to Dallas, TX) and the patch began to download. Not sure why this is, but hopefully my expierience helps somebody else out.
