    bioshock hitching (PC)

    hello,

Ive been playing bioshock for the last few days and for the most part its been running great, no crashes or anything. Its just that I got some hiccups or hitches every now and then which can become a little annoying, nothing that bad.

I'm just wondering if anyone else had these?

I'm running a c2d e6300, 8800gts 640mb, 2gb ram, win xp pro, beta nvidia drivers. No over clocking.

    Thanks

what drivers for the 8800 are you running? Some users report better performance in the beta ones, others like myself are running the 162.18 drivers with no discernible problems.

    FPS Slow down

I've been having a similar problem. When I first load the game it plays great, about 55-75 FPS. After 10 minutes or so the fps drops way down into the teens, and sometimes the dreaded pre-teens. It comes up a bit, but never to the first 10 or so minutes of gameplay.

    2 GB Corsair pc3200

I have the same system, albeit with a 512Mb 7900 GT and have almost exactly the same trouble as you - although I somehow think it might be sound related - what sound card or onboard sound are you using?

I'm also missing some sound effects.

Playing with 5.1, works fine coming from all speakers but after 10 mins or so of play sound starts clicking, drivers are installed fine and work for every other game.

    PC Specifications
-Windows XP professional 32bit, sp pack 2
    -Intel Core 2 Duo E6750
    -2Gb (2X1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2
    -XfX Geforce 8800gts 640mb
-Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (Part of the recommended system requirements)
    -Retail box collectors edition

Screenshot of my current sound control panel:

I noticed in the "recommended system requirements" on the back of the box it says under sound card "with BioShock EAX patch", what eax patch? I couldn't find that anywhere.. Is it installed automatically?

I get a problem like that, it dives down within 5 minutes of play, despite starting nice and high. Some things get it up to normal for about 30 seconds.

well im running the onboard sound card, its a realtek HD something something, not the AC97 one...

like I said its not THAT bad, but hitching has gotten a little worse towards the end of the game...
