Strategic Resources - Tile System Or Stockpile?

Currently we have a system in which a tile represents, say, iron, and keeps your entire civilization instantly supply with the ability to build iron-based units. For simplicity's sake, I can understand this approach.

Wouldn't it be more realistic and potentially more fun (which is infinitely more important) if the tile that contained the resource instead fed your civ with x number of units of that resource per turn? That way having multiple tiles of iron because more valuable.

Further, trade would then involve trading lump sum units of the resource or an agreement to provide x number of units per turn. In this way, you can use your ample iron resources to trade with multiple partners while still stockpiling your own.

Speaking of stockpiling, enemy capture of your iron tiles wouldn't immediately eliminate your ability to build iron-based units. You could do so until your stockpile was expended. For each given strategic resource, you would have to (or the game would automatically designate) pick which city is going to house those warehouses. If you loose that city...bye-bye stockpiles.

Maybe for Civ 6. Any idea when the release date for that is going to be?
