    why no multiplayer lobby or ranking?

    i saw a video about how they are making civ 5 with the community in mind, how can we have a community and meet new players if there is no multilayer lobby, it also seems the only games that appear in list are ones of people in my same city, i want to play with international players also and meet new opponents.

    steam days there are 30,000 players currently on, but in multilayer i see only 1 or 2 games. we need a lobby thats hows all games from lowest to highest ping and a chat interface so u can find people that you want to have a game with.

    also as other have said , the ability to choose to have animations or not would be nice.

    love the game, but i have no desire for singe player, but if i cant find a game in multilayer who am i going to play with?

    would love to see rankings system too , similar to star craft 2 or something. but a lobby at least would be great.

    Yes I agree I think it was a bad decision to eliminate the lobby just because of the spam in the unmoderated Civ3 and Civ4 lobbies. But you can come and join us at CivPlayers Leagues and even if you don't want to join the league you are free to use our Steam chat room as long as you agree to the chat rules

    http://steamcommunity.com/groups/civplayers

    We have an average of 30 players playing in our moderated chat room at any one time.

    But if you are intersted in organized games and a league ranking feel free to check us out, we have been doing Civ MP for a decade now.

    You need to go to Steam/settings/download servers to see what dl server you are on. Say for example you are on the Chicago dl server then you will be only able to see games on that paticular server.
    You can change your dl location to wherever you want {i think there are 20 or 30 diff ones}

    yeah, it was same like that for empire total war, had to change ur steam download region witch requires a reboot of steam each time. seriously why dont games just show everyone from lowest to highest ping, they love to make it hard for us to find people to play with

    No matchmaking, rankings, or inter-regional play = 1990s online MP.

    I don't understand, I was so excited for this game. SC2, while an entirely different game, shows exactly how to handle MP.

    The days of clicking on a lobby of people with random skill levels and having no system for player progression should be over.
