Multiplayer Issues
So I buy this game solely for the multiplayer so my girlfriend and I can play across our LAN.
I get it home and install on both our computers setup our steam accounts (yeah love that crap) get it working, start our first game and after 5 turns she gets DC'd and the AI takes over her Civ. She spends 2 minutes loading back in and we get another 10 turns before she DC'd again.
Now our PC's are about 2 meters apart connected by a high speed router with no firewalls, we have no DC issues with any other games we play.
(Though we dont play another games over Steam, just via local LAN)
So what is the problem with this one ??
Then we find the no easy save/load option ???
Did they even think about multiplayer or was it an after thought ??
Do they want people to return the game and then get a pirated version that doesnt use steam and will probably connect better ??
Not happy and seriously considering returning and getting a refund. Which is a pity as we had been waiting for this game with huge anticipation.

It's Gamespy. Gamespy is the worst multiplayer integration tool I've ever seen, and I cannot fathom as to how they continue to get contracts from companies.
There will be a patch down the road some time, unless they (Firaxis / Gamespy) play the blame game with each other like they did with Revolution.
Also, how do you get refunds on a computer game? Most I've ever managed was to get store credit when a game played horribly and they tried to blame my computer specs and advised me to, "read the requirements before you buy a game." I then promptly chastised the pimple faced 17 year old and bullied him into giving me a 'refund'.

Civ5 does not use Gamespy, it uses Steamworks. Yes there are issues and hopefully Firaxis will fix them as fast as they can. But don't spread speculation that is not true.

It still says "powered by gayspy" in game though. What's up with that then?

Steam is the best out there. They've gotten tons better over the past 6 months, and totally worth it. Better get used to it anyway cause hard copies are going out the window in 5-10 years. It will all be digital....but anyway, their working on a mp patch. So I'd give them a month and then check it out again if you can't stand it. Me personally, I hate the MP right now. It's super laggy, no animations, no trade options like in SP, and just glitchy overall.
