    Loading mods without steam?

Im one of the people with the inability to download the mods through steam. Is there an alternative? A download link, and a directory to put it in? Surely i don't HAVE to download mods through an interface?

According to what we were told pre-launch it should be possible to manually download and unpack mods.

As for how to do it though, not really sure.

Yeah I'd like to know this as well.

Been keeping on eye on the Civ Fanatics forums, if they're going to show up anywhere they'll be on there.

Please be VERY WARY of any mod that requires you to change the default files. It is very possible you'll render the game completely unplayable if a mistake is made. (And yes I realise till the mod tools come out it's the only way to create mods).

I have an example of how mods can be distributed through fan sites here: http://www.weplayciv.com/forums/down...do=file&id=262

I have taken the "civ5mod" file which is downloaded from the ingame mod hub and attached it to an external download fan site. You download the civ5mod file from there and place it in ..\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization V\MODS\. Once in there, go into the game and click MODS and then BROWSE. The civ5mod file will then be automatically unpacked and installed by the mod browser allowing you to play it.

    Hope that answers the question.

the mod browser doesn't work period. I can see everything but everytime I try to download it has an http error. You defintely can install mods without using the mod browser, I already have. If you go to civfanatics as someone else already pointed to, some of the mods are uploaded to their database with correct install instuctions without using the currently nerfed mod browser.

If it's working for most of the people who post here (which is my impression), it's probably working for the vast majority of users.

If you're getting HTTP errors, there's probably something peculiar about your setup; this isn't to say it's your fault, but it does mean that it's something that couldn't be tested for.

There are some very valid problems with the mod browser, though, mostly to do with UI design.
