Starting a game has voice acting, when I just want it to load.
The Leaders all have voice acting, even though they're not voicing what it says at the bottom anyway.
So... why? Neither is necessary or useful. It just kind of gets in the way and irritates me. Any way to turn the voice acting for game starts off? Some of you might like it and decide to flame me, but I dislike it and would just like to turn it off. Thank you.
Oh, jeez... Really? Yeah, there's a way, there should be a button on your speakers labeled 'power'. Press it.

Thats funny, this is the first time someone actually criticizes a game for its presentation value.
i for one like the sheer amount of voice acting and the little "intro" you get per leader/civ when starting a new game, and the leaders speaking their own realtive native languages.
I'm not hostile, this is just one of the silliest complaints about a game that I've ever heard.

What is silly about the complaint? I'd rather turn the voice off when starting a new game. And nothing is loading a menu, it's loading the game itself.
That's EXACTLY what is silly about it. You are complaining about something you can turn off, affects gameplay in NO way and works fine.
No. I don't want to turn my own speakers or volume down. I just want to turn it off. There is nothing silly about it. I can't understand your opposition to customization.

Are you seriously complaining about the quality of voice acting? Would you prefer none at all?
I don't see any reason to turn it off either, but if you want to just go to Options>Audio Options and turn Voice Volume down to 0.
I never complained about the quality. I simply said about seven times now, that when I start a game I'd like no voice acting. How hard is this to understand!??
INSANELY hard to understand. I can understand if you don't like it. I can understand if you want different options.
I cannot understand creating a post about such a trivial thing.
I want an option. It's an option. It's optional. I want the OPTION to turn it off. How on Earth does my opinion anger you to such a degree?
If Civ5's got a good settings menu there should be something under sound to turn the game sounds off. Or at least turn off the leaders talking.

Okay. You start a new game. While it loads the game, some screen pops up, and the narrator reads it. I want to turn that voice OFF. It's amazingly simple, why can no one grasp the idea!?
It's ridiculous. If you don't understand why it's ridiculous, we can't help you.
No game will ever have a 'turn off voice acting inthe intro movie' option. Why? Because it's ridiculous.
