App crashes on save and/or reload

I've had this happen more than once now. Sometimes when I save, and sometimes when I load a save from within the game, the screen freezes. When I control-alt-delete, there is a box showing that says the progam has quit working, with a button that lets me shut it down. This doesn't happen everytime, just some of the time.

Same issue. I have two machines. The one at work is a Dell 5400, 6MB ram, mid-grade Nvidia card. It runs smoothly with no problems. My home machine (for gaming) has the same issue as the OP - it crashes during loading from inside the game. At first it was fine, then it was slow, then it crashed after the fifth or sixth load, now it crashes every time I try to load from inside the game.

Specs:
Gateway FX6840
Intel i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80Ghz
8GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5770 card (updated drivers)

Correction: Also crashes when I go back to the main menu and try to reload from there. So only the first load when I start the game works.
