    Stuck On Choose Research/Production

I've been playing multi with two friends. Both of them have gotten stuck trying to choose their research or production. When they click the research/production they want the menu acts as if it accepts their command. However, the icon in the bottom right still says 'choose (blank)' and they cannot end their turn. We've lost three multi's that we've been about 1.5-2 hrs into already. It's a bit frustrating.

Sounds to me like a connectivity issue, are you wireless?

My friends and I had the same problem. We could chat and click on other units, but two of us couldn't pick a research. We both had to drop out.

I had this problem in single player. I recieved 6 cities (one I liberated) from China as part of a peace treaty. I made all the other cities puppet states .Then I was stuck with the "Choose Production" instead of "Next Turn" and I couldn't resolve that problem until I annexed them all and set their production manually to Wealth. They also all are in a state of anarchy.

Yeah, 5 new cities in anarchy without puppet governments kind of owned my happiness.

    Same Problem

I am having the same problem. I am playing in single player mode, and an opponent surrendered giving me five or six cities, all of which I established as puppet cities. Then, after I made moves with all my units, it wouldn't allow me to get past Chose Production. I did have one notice that a puppet city was awaiting production, so I annexed it and put it into production to see if that worked. It did not. I tried this with many more cities to no avail. Is there a fix yet, because I don't want to have to refight this war.

I'm having the same problem: stuck at "choose production" for a newly acquired puppet city, also right after the weaker civ gave me a bunch of cities for peace.

Annexing the *all* newly acquired cities (you can find them by clicking "choose production" --> this will cause a point to blink in the little map in the lower right corner) and choosing production for them (courthouses I guess) does help though, but this causes major unhappiness.

Casting out my voice in the hopes that a patch will be imminent.

I too have the "stuck" Choose Production. It happened after a weaker Civ offered up two cities in exchange for peace. I chose Puppet for both. The first seems fine, but the second kept prompting for a production choice. I annexed it and told it what to start building, but it's still saying something needs production and I can't move any further with my game.

It may also be worth noting that a lot of messages came in on me after the peace treaty when I was deciding what to do with my new cities; the notifications for them superseded the option screen for the new cities.

Same problem, conquered one city and received another in a peace agreement on the same turn. Choose to make them both puppets because I don't want to deal with the unhappiness at this point in the game. Looks like I gotta start a new game. Not sure why it's asking for a production choice in a puppet city, that's kinda the deal with a puppet city is that you don't get to choose it's production. It would be nice to have a manual "force next turn" option.

@JetWolf: try annexing the other city as well. That did the trick for me.

Yep. I just experienced this too.

Elisabeth offred me a peace treaty including the city of nothingham.
I accepted and turned nothingam into a puppet city.

Now the game is stuck on that turn, since I'm demanded to choose production for the puppet city - which is impossible, of course.

    Now, what to do?

A quick fix please, otherwise cannot continue playing.

Thanks. I already started a new game (luckily I love starting new Civ games), but if this comes up again before it's fixed, I'll definitely try just annexing everyone.

I tried this first off but no success. I had however only done a quick save with this particular game; I'm not sure if a full on save would yield a different result.

I have the same problem, I received cities from a peace treaty, made them puppets, and am stuck at "change production".

Yes, I can save and exit, but the problem remains when reloading the file.

    same issue

Same issue with me. Reloading a save file will not correct the issue. Any time I get a civ to surrender cities (6 being the least number surrendered) I must annex them. Any puppets that I make from surrender will not set their on production and the turn cannot advance. I am required to manually go through them and annex and then set my own production.

Similar issue with Puppet cities after I have around 20 or so, except the turns are allowed to progress, but the city will not que any production.

I was able to save the game. The game did not hung up, crash or mess up in any way - I was able to do everything I wanted to -excpt ending my turn.

Then I saved the game, quit to windows and re-launced Civ and loaded the game.

But nope ... Sadly, still saying I must choose production for Notingham.

I wonder...might it be the latest "minipatch" that caused this? (there was a mention about a fixed bug regarding an exploit regarding puppet-state cityes)

There is always the possibility than when a bug is fixed, something else is accidentaly overlooked.

When this issue appeared for me I had to annex only the puppet cities that nothing in production. They had a blank icon on the right side of the cities title bar in map mode.

I was also able to force my way through a turn by manually finding all the units still needing moves and then hitting SHIFT ENTER. That only seemed to work for one turn.

Yea prepatch you were able to assign production for cities you turned into puppets during the AI turn. No longer the case but now you are stuck instead.

What I would recommend is NOT accepting the AI's offer and making the offer during your turn. They will still be just as willing and generous then and you won't have those problems.

mm... just wondering, might there be a way to uninstall the mini-patch until a solution is found?

Not 100% on this, but if you right-click the game in the Library and set it to not update automatically, then delete local content, then just reinstall it, that might do it for you...

i had exactly the same problem

reloaded previous turn autosave and only accepted 3 of the offered 10 cities for peace and had to annex them all in order to end my turn.

Only problem is that i now have the perma peace bug with my only neighbour. Seems i now need to get a science victory since my large empire will never win culturally

    Seriously needs a fix

They seriously need to fix this. My Marathon/Huge game just hit this bug, and I accepted 15(!) new puppet states this way. All of them have blank production. Annexing them all will pretty much KILL my empire in this game. Do they not TEST this stuff?

same bug but it seems random

it happened to me twice so far, it IS a real annoyance when you're carefully planning ahead. Thing is, i wouldnt know how to recreate it, i got a bunch of puppets from germany and a tad from rome, nothing went wrong there, but when i kick alexander down it happened, this time only three cities but stuck on 'choose production' and reloading or rebooting doesnt help

    I feel your pain

I have wasted hours of play on this game. I completed the first game no problem, but then subsequent games all froze on production. I was in single player mode and it was not a puppet government. I was just updating one of my cities in a routine manner.

I just confirmed this bug as well while playing a multiplayer game with a buddy of mine and it's sad to see that it still has not been fixed.

You did no such thing, as the game as it was when this thread was created, has COMPLETELY different rules from the game you play now.

If you can start a new thread, we will see whats up, and help if it can be provided
