Two different list of internet servers?

Hello, my friend and I just got CIV 5, and it installed fine.

I'm on the west coast, he's in the midwest.

When we try to play online, I never see the game he's hosting, he never see's mine, and we see two completely different lists of internet games available on the list.

    Any ideas?

Add eachother on steam, have him make a private game and invite you. Thats how me and my buddies do it at least.

You need to have a game that you have paid for. Free games do not count (such as Alien Swarm)

    Provided Insight

Assuming you have already created the private game, open your Steam browser, I believe the default bind is Left-Control + TAB, and find your friend in your friends list, typically in the bottom left. From here there should be an 'Invite to Game' option, from there it should be easy for your friend to follow along, although I've not yet done this myself with anyone.
