Game Crashes After exactly 160 turns...

    Hello,

I am writing to get some support for Civilization V. I preordered about a week ago on steam and the game finally unlocked today everything was running smooth until I cam to turn 160 of my second game on Civ V. I tried reloading the game but it still continued to crash. I thought auto-save was the problem so I changed that to every 100 turns and still nothing. I am using the latest drivers for my Nvidia GTS 250. I have also tried to run the game in directx 9 but still run into the same problem. This maybe an isolated case just on this save file but I was just sorta wondering if there is anyway I can fix or will I have to start a new game. Thanks

I have the same problem, except mine is at turn 110. The same game crashed on me once around turn 60-70 but after a reload it worked fine. Can't get past this one though.

Exactly same. I crash at 206 turns. The game run very smooth no problem and at 206 i crash everytime.

Tried on DX9 and DX11 same problem.

I updated my last driver of my GTX 260 and I rebooted but same issue.

OS: Windows 7 64 bit with every update done.

My game is also crashing repeatedly after 149 turn. Here is the link to a save 3-4 turn before it happens : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8TTTSTRV (please people do not download it as i don't have a premium account and bigden won't be able to get it after 10 downloads !). It is perfectly reproducible from other earlier save.

So far i have tried dx9, reducing graphic details to minimum, running in window mode, praying to gods and updating drivers.

From the error message, i gathered the following :
    - Error type BEX
    - App : civilizationV.exe (or dx11 exe depending on what was choosen)
    - module : MSVCR90.dll
    -exception code : c0000417

This is basically a copy past from a steamworks post I made, found here

I'm having a problem with the game crashing between 100 and 200 (142/176) turns in single and multiplayer. I have saved the turn before crashes in two games and can repeat the fault every time.

I formatted my computer only installed the latest drivers (mobo chipset, audio and display) re-downloaded Civ5 and the issue persists on the same turn. In both cases the issue happens between the renaissance and industrial era at no particular time between. Another civ may be hitting the industrial era at that time but I have no way to verify this.

I have no slowdown issues, no noticeable graphical errors such as tearing, de-interlacing ect. The error persists in DX9 and dx10/11. Also worth noting I had no issues with other games prior to the format

Save File Link - Note, please do not download this as it is limited, save bandwidth for devs please!

Well, I am glad this is actually getting looked at by someone at Firaxis. This game is pretty fun, but there are a lot of technical issues. This problem seems like it doesn't differ from High-end PC's to Lower-end ones. Looks like Appellon and Emeneth have already provided all the info to fix the problem that a lot of people seem to be having so I won't bother uploading my save file unless you need some more samples. I really hope that this problem get's fixed soon because until then I am scared to start a new game of Civ 5...

I am having a similar issue around turn 220 after Alexander declares war on me. Many of his units move into position, attack a few of mine, I get quite a few notifications on the left-hand side of the screen, game slows than becomes unresponsive. I cannot read the error box unfortunately.

I used to be able to load a game a few turns back, only to have the same thing happen. Now I can't load any of my manual/quicksaves at all without getting a CTD with a C++ Runtime Error.

    Specs:
    Win 7 Pro 64-bit
    Phenom x4 955
    4GB RAM
eVGA 470 GTX (latest signed driver)
    Boxed Version of Game

I've unistalled/reinstalled both the game and MS Visual C++ 2008 but with the same results.

Sporkmonger, I'm able to reproduce the crash from your save, thanks much. The others we have not had any luck with.

How recently was the Great Wall constructed in these cases? I noticed it was in all of these saves.

I can't remember for sure as i didn't build the Great Wall myself.

You can find a thread on what seems to be the same problem here for more reports: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=381329

Basing on the number of turn from these reports (around 300-400 turns in), the Great Wall has surely been built a long time ago.

    Same Issue

My game also freezes up at around turn 60 or 168. Quite surprised since I'm using a new computer. Hope a fix is on the way.

In my game the great wall was built a lot of turns before the crash, somthing between 50-100 turns before.

Same problem here with my 3 (only) games :

    game 1 and 2 : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DEEFFYPN (mirror : http://rapidshare.com/files/420790756/game_1_and_2.zip )

I've sent the second game to a friend and his game crashed during the loading
(he already finished 2 games without any crash)

I note that when I "Verify integrity of game cache" in steam, 1 file fails to validate and is redownloaded. After a few hours, steam says the exact same thing and redownload the file.
the redownloaded files seems to be "CivilizationV.exe" and "CivilizationV_DX11.exe"
I don't know if this is related to our probem

    System specs :
    intel i7 920 (no o/c)
    ATI 5850 with 10.9 catalyst
    3 gB ram
Win 7 32 bit up to date

I have the same issue at turn 180, but i dont recall the great wall ever being built. (It was not by my civ and im pretty sure the ai didnt either.) as to linking a save im not that computar savvy, so if somebody would be kind enough to link directions on how to do that, i would love to contribute more info for the cause, unless you guys have enough saves

I too have this problem. Turn 370 it crashes on me every time. The Great Wall is also in my game, built by the AI far earlier in the game than where it crashes

Hi guys quick update here but I have recently contacted 2k support myself and their diagnosis was that this is a corrupt save file. Has this happened to anyone on multiple occasions except for that one gentleman that stated so before?

I reloaded a save in the 4 games I played, But it crash like 100+ turn after reloading the save. I might try to play a game without reloading a save and see what happen.

Yup, I can provide several different saves from the same game that all crash at the exact same turn. My crash happens on turn 390

    Turn 386 save: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=US5YF5SF
    Turn 388 save: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7OYQYCN0
    Turn 390 save: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5SLRA9HB

The turn 390 save is a manual save immediately before the crash. This save actually fails to load, where the 2 saves before will load and then crash once 370 comes around

    Important Message!

I spent my evening to test different things on my party and I bugged released! By simply running the game via the launcher rather than the exe.
(I also loaded the buggy party via another party already loaded and set the auto backup storage 3, in case ...)
    TBC!

    Random Crashes

I've been having the same problem. The game crashes after 60-200 turns on every game I've played. Has anyone else noticed that the intro video pops up just after the game crashes?

    My system is:
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz
    4 Gb Ram
    NVIDIA 7950 GT 512MB
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

    Here's the error:

So are you saying that you have fixed this problem. I am sorry but I am having trouble understanding you. What do you mean to run the game via launcher?

Not sure if he means he fixed his problem(IE the topic of this thread) but if you actually goto the civ folder there are 3 ways to launch the game civdx9.exe,civdx11.exe and launcher.exe. Didn't solve the problem for me.

    ***UPDATE***
Just installed the nvidia beta drivers 260.63 then reinstalled direct x. The game was crashing on turn 304, I am now on turn 306!!! I hope this solved my problem, before this try, I had maybe tried 50-100 reloads and the game crashed on turn 304 every time, I will come back and post here if the problem persists, good luck to everyone in the meantime.
