    Bioshock Crashing comp?

I bought a game case with two CD's in it, one BioShock Rupter, and Oblivion IV.

    Here is the case
    http://www.blogcdn.com/news.bigdownload.com/media/2009/06/bioshock_oblivion_g4w_pc_fob[2]june19.jpg

Both of them crash my comp.
Keyboard light will remain on, [ Caps lock, Num Lock, Scroll lock ] but everything else goes off. Even though everything is off but the keyboard, I still have to hold the power button in to completely turn off the comp, and then press it again to turn it back on. I won't get any errors or warnings, like the 'System Crash' errors.

The game only crashes when I get to a certain point in it, no matter how good the game is running, and for a computer like mine, it doesn't even lag.

The sound also seems to have some sort of static problem, It's not bad enough to kill over, but it would be nice to understand what NPC's are saying, especially Atlas on the radio.

    Here are my comp specs

OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium

How long ago did you get your computer? Do you have all the latest drivers?

To mod: This thread should be moved to tech support.

Yes, I have all the latest drivers, at least I'm pretty sure I do, unless the internet likes to hide stuff from me...

The computer itself is about three to five years old at the least, the parts I'm not so sure, they're maybe three or four years old.

Sorry about the mixup, I was in a rush and didn't feel like searching the entire forum for the right spot to post.

Mods can move threads around, so no need to make another one of the same thing.

Does your computer crash with other games besides BioShock & Oblivion?

Not at all, that's what confuses me most.

Thank you for the uh...warm welcome.

    Anyways.

Yesterday I updated the game and my sound driver. I seemed to get a little bit farther into the game without crashing, but not very far.

So maybe it's something related to the sound and the game, but I have no idea what, and the only game patch I found for Bioshock - Rapture, is patch 1.1

If there are more patches, please post a link here.

Make sure you have installed latest versions of DirectX and Net Framework. Crashs issues are most of the times related to lack of Net Framework 2.0 and 3.5 . Then use ccleaner to do also a registry clean. After play 1 of the 2 games and it should run fine.. I also suggest you to use smart close. What it does? It basically closes every process that is not important, so you get the cpu less busy. Let me know if it works or not

DirectX and Net Framwork are up to date for sure, and I already use CCleaner every day.

The last time I downloaded Smart Close it ended up giving my comp a virus, so I'm not really comfortable with downloading it again.

All settings are down, that's why the game runs so smoothly for a computer of my type.

    Defragmented, same problem occurs.
