Sorry 'bout not reading entire thread, no time.
That bug is surely already evoked:
Desert : 3 prods
Steel : 4 feeds + 1 gold
That didnt fix the old reloadMap-yield-bug.

Have had it with this waste of money.
How can I get a refund.
Have spent more time negociating "work arounds" than playing the game.
Have state of art PCs, latest drivers, plenty of ram and graphics grunt, have followed every suggestion from 2k and steam, and this junk is still not playing consistently.
What a waste of money!!!!
1. Game needs work around to load from disk rather than steam.
2. Game needs work around to play at all after being installed.
3. Game needs work around to avoid freezing problems.
4. Game needs work around to load from HD without connecting to Steam (after first rego this is guaranteed on box and web site).
5. After every update you start at 1 again.
6. Game refuses to load saved ganmes without manual change to config.ini.
7. Hey, guess what.... game has now decided that it will not play again.... how relaxing and satisfying.
8. Oh and now it says it can't play offline...... because you can't do that without a connection to Steam first!!!!
[BUG] Dead civilizations will retain influence over city states.
India (AI) is allied with Hanoi. Both declare war on me.
India is conquered and removed from the game.
I make peace with Hanoi, but they remain allied with... India!
I pour large amounts of cash into Hanoi to become their ally.
Eventually my influence drops below India's, at which point my influence instantly plummets to -60 and Hanoi declares war on me.
[BUG 2] AI becoming confused over peace treaties with city states.
I see an opportunity to steal an early worker, declaring war on a city state, taking the worker, and making peace with the city state in the same turn.
On the next turn, Elizabeth calls me up, scolding me for my little war and asking me to stop it. Well, I already did? Anyway, I apologize.
The turn after that Elizabeth returns, furious, saying I didn't keep my word and that I conquered... my own civilization? What? Lizzie, you so crazy!
There is a glitch or bug, not quite sure what to call it. It kinda is this when I talk with a Leader of another Civ and discuss a Declaration of friendship and they refuse the game registers it as it was accepted. I know this because I can't ask it again and coouple of turns later I get the message that the declaration has run its course.
@NightCrier: That is being addressed in the upcoming patch. It's in the Upcoming Patch thread in General Discussion. DOF = Declaration of Friendship.
Bug
the calculation of the production in a city is not correct.
It seems that the production bonus gained form the economy social politic tree is not involed in the calculation. Even througt bonus is displayed on the city screen.
I have two cities both are on sea. In one city the bonus is correctly used an in the other city it is not. I belief before i load the game, i had the bouns in both cities.
Edith: i played a few rounds... after the city finishs a production the bonus is correctly calculated
Edith2: it is a problem with loading a game. After i load a save, the bonus is not applied to any city. The calculation becomes correct, then the city growths.

I hate technology, even more when I don't understand it.
My game crashes every time I try to play it just after the "preparing to launch",
Instead of appearing the window that says if you want to run it with Direct X 9 or 10, it just appears a blank window with the title "Sid Meier's Civ V (DX9)" and the error appears "Sid meiers .... has detected an error ..." and send report and that stuff.
So far this 2 errors keep appearing:
AppName: civilizationv.exe AppVer: 1.0.1.221 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.6055 Offset: 000108f3
error 2
AppName: civilizationv.exe AppVer: 1.0.1.221 ModName: civilizationv.exe
ModVer: 1.0.1.221 Offset: 00094d23
I've also noticed that when I try to validate the integrity of the game, it also fails.
I just don't know what to do, Even if my pc couldn't support the game it shouldn't crash that way I think
I'll add my system info.

No Radeon X1000-series GPU has been able to successfully run the game. The minimum Radeon series for Civ V is the Radeon HD 2000 series.
Also, you can't choose DirectX 10/11 because Windows XP only supports up to DirectX 9.
Edit: Er... why did you post here when this has already been explained to you in the thread you made a few days ago? [link] There's something that Radeon HD 2000 cards have, that X1000 cards don't have, that Civ V needs in order to run. I think it has something to do with texture decoding; it's been a while since I looked it up.
Each update I hope the yields bug will be fixed, and each update I'm getting more and more frustrated. How difficult can it be to fix the yields? When I point with the mouse on the fields I'm getting the correct yields, but the big yield symbols on the map always getting messed, showing 5 gold on water, 4 food on desert, etc. etc.
Reloading or restarting the game never fixes it, once messed it stays messed until the end of the game, making micromanagement extremly painful.
I still can't see my installed mods!!!!!!! fix this!!
In my current game, I had 1 ally and 2 hostile nations on my continent. As I saw Germany building up his arms near my border, I knew that an oncoming war was almost inevitable. While I was reasonably armed, 3rd out of the 8 civs, I saw that Germany was first, having an army about 60% greater than mine. To counter this, I set up a defensive pact with Siam, whom were to the other side of Germany, so should war arise, I be backed by another civ, knowing that our combined arms was greater than Germany's, leaving me fairly well off.
Then, 4 turns later, Genghis Kahn and Bismark both declare war on me... nevertheless, I thought I wasn't that badly off with the help of Ramkhamhaeng. Then, I looked over the notifications and realized that Siam only declared war on Mongolia, whom are literally on the other side of the continent, and not Germany, their immediate neighbor.
I figure this is because our defensive pact cancelled immediately after Ramkhamhaeng declared war on Genghis, which then cancelled the agreement between us immediately, thus not drawing him into the much more relevant conflict with Germany. However, I feel this is bugged, I think defensive pacts should only cancel at the end of the turn, meaning that when two nations go into a co-op war against a third, then the ally of the third declares war on both of the other players that initiated the conflict.
I've an issue with my Gameplay. Whenever I load CIV V and start a new civilization or load a saved one, my tech tree does not load properly. I'm unable to select a new tech to research, and thus cannot move from turn to turn. I've uploaded a screenshot, which depicts the problem I'm facing. It isn't showing the usually menu which would allow me to select a technology to research. Any help in resolving this would be appreciated!

Hi there!
Someone has noted this problem: http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread...56#post1390456 ???
I'm trying to contact Greg2k but no success.
Thank you in advance.
While playing Washington, I was having a war with Songhai, I got a shock when I found out his cannon had a range of three as artillery instead of two. Granted I was beating the snot out of him and taking out a couple of his cities. Both of us are in the industrial age. I lost a infantry unit because of what I feel was an AI cheat. I have a I3/Windows 7 system running the game. The game is Civ 5 Version 223483 FINAL_RELEASE. The game was run on Prince level with no mods. I have no explaination why this happen. Is it possible that the game delays a unit upgrade of an older unit during game play?
So - I downloaded this from steam onto my mac, and it is completely unplayable.
At first, the starting screen for a new civilization would just cover the other screen, so that I couldn't see anything, and as I tried to scroll, the unit would just multiply. So it was impossible to play.
Then, yesterday as I logged on in another attempt, I noticed it downloaded an update! Yay, I thought, perhaps it is fixed. NO.
Now the menu disappears, all text is gone, which makes it completely worthless. I don't get how you can sell a game that you can't play.
WHEN WILL THIS BE FIXED?
Thanks.
Hello,
I was looking for the Scenarios Folder in File / Folders and didn’t see it. Where do I stick my downloaded MODs in order to play them? When I want to load a MOD shouldn’t it be in the scenarios folder?
The 'Mods' folder is in your My Documents / My Games / Civ 5 folder in your C drive.
I ♥ Firaxis Games and really enjoy CIV V, but steam has got to go! Any new games released by Firaxis/2k needs a disk option where the game (and the steam download) is available for sale/installation on CD/DVD for quick installation.
I recently uninstalled Steam to troubleshoot another internet connectivity problem, and it also Nuked my Civ V installation requiring a complete reinstall.
Reinstalling Steam took the better part of an hour, and the Civ DL on DSL is like 3 Hours!!!! OMFG!
In addition to being a complete waste of bandwidth, especially if it becomes necessary to re-install, uninstalling steam should not uninstall the other games that just happen to be installed using steam.
...worst
...online
...software
...ever
And I won't be buying any new games from 2k/Firaxis unless an install disk is included.
You can visit the GameDaddy on Twitter, or check out his gaming website GameDevonline here
I know that and that is where they are, but when the game is loaded I am unable to load or play them.
Hey folks. I was experiencing lots of crashes while playing Civilization V, most of the time the error was related to msvcr90.dll. Once or twice it named Civilization V dx11.exe as the fault, sometimes I would BSOD, other times the screen would simply turn black then restart. Everytime I exited the game via the game menu, I would get a black screen and would have to end process via the task manager, on rare occasions it would simply crash my PC then restart.
My CPU/GPU temperatures were in check, not much higher than any other game I play. One day I decided to check inside my computer and I discovered my northbridge heatsink was scorching hot to touch after playing Civ. I added a small fan to blow cool air over the northbridge and I leave my side cover off. I've been playing for about 5 days now and I have not experienced one crash, restart, bsod, or even the black screen after closing the game!
My computer specs:
Intel Q6600 @ 3.2ghz
4gb RAM
GTX 260 video card overclocked to 736-1587-1245
I play on DX11 mode and all graphic settings set to the highest, vsync on @ 1920x1080, and on large continents.
CPU temp hits around 40-50c, GPU around mid 80's, no idea what my NB temps were/are as I don't have software monitoring those temps.
June patch:
Chieftain, Huge, Quick
In Economics screen unit maintenance: 3.61/unit 36 units plus 7 missiles (free). My current researh tech has one turn left to research Satellites, which would enable me to build missiles: I don't have any.
In Military screen: 43 active units. Of these 19 are civilian (11 GP and 8 workers)
in Gold tooltip at top of game: unit maintenance 137 gold.
Bug: I have no missiles. 43 x 3.61 does not give 137 total. Even if only 36 had maintenance cost, the figure is still wrong.
It appears the reporting of unit maintenance and their cost is not reported as expected in this latest patch.
June Patch:
Playing as Elizabeth, I got in a war with Wu. I conquered some cities, then she surrendered and gave me the "Take everything I own except my capital"-deal, which I took. I got several cities, puppeted them all. Most work normally, but I noticed that one of them didn't produce anything. I annexed it and checked; it could not do it because it only worked food and gold tiles, and the central city hex produces no output at all - neither hammers nor food. Reloading didn't fix the issue. The other puppets do not have this problem.
I don't know if this is a bug or if it's intended, but it seems like a probable oversight in the last patch. Frigates go obsolete with electricity, even though Destroyers are under Combustion now. Intended or bug?
I went to get a diplo victory... the count down went from 10 to 1 where I had enough votes to win. Then, next turn, it the count down goes up to 10 and started counting down again. A bug, or an intended feature for some reason?
I have had an ongoing issue where certain tiles become "black holes" on the map. They are shaded over like a revealed tile that I have no visibility to. But, even if there is a unit right next to it, it won't light up. When I move a unit into that hex, it vanishes and I can't click on it, but I can move it out as long as I don't fortify/sleep it there. The hexes with this problem tend to stay the same, but I've seen them move or appear/disappear after reloads, or working those tiles. It's definitely strange to have a dark tile in the middle of your territory.
I'd love to attach it, but I'm not allowed to...
So here's a Mediafire link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6pd98u3fo64a390
The city in question is Guangzhou.
I'm having a recurring problem. The AI keeps putting cities on single hex islands. I bombard them down to 1 hp with my navy and move a land unit in for the final assault but when I click to attack the land unit won't attack. I even retreated and got my unit in a couple fights to get the amphibious assault promotion but it still won't attack. I click, and the unit deselects as if I'd hit the space bar.
I ended up having to trade for the city in a peace treaty just so I could get it, which wasn't very satisfying.
can i play civ 5 with these specs??

Hi folks!
I'm not sure if that's the right thread to ask in, I hope so...
I'm looking for a way to eliminate the video you get when starting the game: "Welcome back my son, I missed you...". It's kind of frustrating, I can skip the video typing "Esc" but it takes about a minute to do it, I can't stand to see Grandpa talking about his glorious dream anytime. Help me, I want to eliminate the video or, at least, I'd like a tip to skip it immediately.
(sorry for my crap english)
I would like to add my voice to those who think that Steam has been a mistake, and a bad one.
I am not interested in the tons of ways around all the problems and bugs. I am a customer. Civ is a game. I do not want to trouble-shoot, or trade mails with customer support, or search forums for fixes.
On paper I guess it looks good, or it must have looked good when Steam was pitching their product to the people that make Civ. But my reality is that Steam does not make things automatic or even easier. It makes things more difficult, less reliable, and basically has put me entirely off the game. I was willing to let Civ suck hours out of my life, because it was fun. I am not willing to let Steam suck hours out of my life just because they and Firaxis have shipped products that aren't ready. I mean, at this point, after a few rounds with customer service, I am just giving up. I won't list the problems: You've probably seen them here before. And even though I am sure there are solutions, at this point I am just going to say Frak It. If it doesn't work invisibly, then that's Steam/Civ/Firaxis' fault, and their responsibility. Hunting down fixes and corresponding with tech support is work, not play.
Maybe they'll do things differently for Civ VI. I hope so.
First it's just adware that's totally annoying. Now it won't let me install Civ5 on a new computer because it keeps sending verifying code to an e-mail address that doesn't exist anymore. It won't let me change the email because it also sends code to the email that doesn't exist anymore. To get support, it sends an email to the nonexistent email account. How frigging frustrating. Anything associated with Steam I'm staying away from in the future.
It's not adware by any honest definition of the word.
How is that Steam's fault? Why did you give it an email address you didn't have access to? Why didn't you update it when lost control of it?
Your user account and your support account are completely separate and don't need to use the same user name or email address. If you don't have control of the email address for your existing support account, then create a new one. Then use that new support account to request the recovery of your Steam account.
This is all stated pretty clearly on the support site, by the way.
Right, that makes sense. You forgetting to keep your account up to date is a totally valid reason to boycott a business. I've stopped using the local Safeway after they refused to let me buy groceries because I forgot my credit card. And I refuse to buy cars from Ford after my last one broke down because I hadn't changed the oil in two years. I refuse to do business with any company that doesn't take responsibility for my mistakes.
Er... you can't.
While it's not obvious, that video is the game loading screen. When it starts playing, you can press 'ESC' (other keys work, too, I think) and the video will stop once the game is loaded and ready to go. For me (4.5GHz quad, 16GB of RAM, game on SSD) I have to wait a couple seconds. Other people have to wait a minute.
Summary: the video isn't there to show you a video, its to give the screen something to do while the game loads. You can disable the video, but what you get then is a black screen for the same amount of time (a couple seconds to a minute).
Sorry about not reading entire thread for a problem like this, don't have time.
All my civilizations cities have the European Architecture set (except for asian ones oddly). For example I'm playing Arabia, my cities look like European ones (small brown buildings) , while I see Tyre and they have the nice Golden Buildings with Domes. And I'm pretty sure Rome is supposed to have a Mediterrainian Architecture set? Mine doesn't, and I know because I've seen plenty of Lets Plays as Rome and as soon as they start out they have nice white buildings with red tile roofs. You can see comparison pics in my thread City Appearances in Support. I know its minor and I'm probably being picky but its annoying.![]()
umm yes im new i ought civ 5 but the file creation for steam has been on for 3 hours i even confered email please help i love the other ones
I installed it, and I can go as far as when it asks me to choose Direct X 9 or 10/11. Whichever one I pick, it just opens and closes almost instantly. And when it doesn't close, it stays a blank black screen until it stops responding. Any suggestions?
