Snake's 12 Hours Till Launch PSA

So I thought I'd bring all of your attention to a dangerous problem that will result from Civ V's release tomorrow: hunger!

While playing your game you may be tempted to forgoe meals. This is fine as long as you keep snacking throughout the day and take at least a half hour break for dinner. I stocked up on snack foods for tomorrow and my better half is going to make some of her famous queso dip for us.

Protien is good! Eat things with cheese (gets your milk servings in!), like nachos or queso, or crackers with cheese on it. Jerkey is wonderful as well, but mind the crumbs.

Fruits: not typically the best snacks for gaming on a computer for one reason, the damn sticky juices! Relegate these snacks to dried (mmm dried apricots) or in juice form.

Vegetables: Carrots are your friend, as can be frozen peas, corn, and green beans.

Breakfast: Well for me Civ V releases at 7 a.m. Not a problem as I'm usually up that early anyway. To keep your attention and energy going, I'd recommend English muffins (Crumpets for our friends across the pond) topped with butter and/or jam or peanut butter. Cereal with milk adds to this quite nicely. And coffee or tea is a wonderful addition in cooler weather.

Mini Meals: Soups are great. Chili is better Nachos make for a wonderful "once every 3 hour meal" as do sandwiches (deli sliced meats, cheese and fresh veggies are superb). Chicken nuggets and chicken fingers are great, if you can avoid using your hands to eat em the better.

Drinks: For those of age, alcohol consumed in moderation can taste wonderful with some of the better snack food items like chili and nachos. But don't drink too many or you may have issues staying awake. Soft drinks are wonderful snack compliments. But if you aren't snacking and you're thirsty, head for the water.

Eating location: Be warned that eating and drinking on your computer desk may result in damaged keyboard, and/or mouse. Make sure you have plenty of room and paper towels nearby in case of accidents. Feel free to use a TV tray to set your food and drinks on to make things simpler (but mind the location when you get up to stretch or use the restroom.)

Restroom breaks: If you have to use it; use it, don't hold it. And don't make it a photo finish either, if you get caught short, you'll be taking even more time away from Civ.

Thank you all and good gaming!

Also, if you're a big fat guy like me, you may want to consider wearing a sweatband on your wrist. You know, the kind emo kids like to wear to hide their suicide attempt scars

you know who else wears them tho? Professional athletes. Basketball players, football players and tennis players love sweatbands on their hands to keep sweat off their fingers so they have a better grip.

As a civ player, nothing is going to be more important than your grip on your mouse. If your palms get sweaty then the mouse could easily slip out of your hand accidentally ending your turn to early or deleting a vital unit.

A 5 hour game of Civ can get intense! And when that happens, your out of shape, beer-drinking, nacho-eating heart can start to beat fast, causing abnormal amounts of sweat. Don't let that sweat ruin your game!

So if you want to take your Civ game to the next level, pick up a wristband to keep the sweat off and keep your game on!

I prefer to keep it simple. A 12 pack of Yuengling and a pizza should be all I need. Hopefully I won't run out of beer before I get the bomb. I guess I could always make a drinking game out of capturing cities. On second thought I may want to make that two twelve packs.

    small PSA:

GO SHOWER NOW! If you haven't already.

Stinking up the place is not a good plan if you have anyone living with you. or having to dart out for munchies/actual stuff in the middle of a game will take much less time if you aren't a smelly ball of nastiness at that time.

Since I'm taking the missus for dinner tonight I thought I'd shower then, so I took one last night
