    News as of 2010-09-19

Well ICL fans, a lot has been happening the past few weeks. The big story of the moment is the surprise domination by BlueKiller077's Spaniards. Under the skilled tutelage of coach "Mickey Goldmill" TyShine, they have jumped out to an undefeated 4-0 record and 1st place overall in the league.

Also heating up the presses is the perseverance of the French under skilled Napolean Mawpawk. Through an unfortunate Rome forfeit in week 3 and a mysterious upset over Watdog's Samurai in week 4 (rumor has it they nuked Kyoto in 1000BC ), they have improved a rough start to a respectable 2-2 record.

Unfortunately for the Frenchies they are in the strongest division and remain in last place. With Duke's heavily favored English rounding out the Spanish and French, the West Division is a combined 9-3.

To the surprise of no one, Morte has led his Greeks to an undefeated 3-0 record. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much activity lately in the south division, with the last game being the Arab's upset loss to the Spanish. "El Jihad" Thrasher was last seen muttering to himself that he and fellow upset victim DukeBlue were going to gang up on TyShine in an FFA game as China and America.

Germany and India (GrizzleyTigers and OldBill respectively) also lead their divisions. Their strong success was each bolstered by recent wins over FF-GTR's underdog Mongolians. The glory of the Mongol's surprise victory in week 2 is fading fast after an early surrender to the Morte's Greeks followed by tough played, late era losses to Grizz and OldBill. The horde needs to put together some wins soon in order to not fall hopelessly behind the Indians. Unfortunately for Ghengis and Co., their next game is scheduled against the intimidating Greeks. However a win there could solidify the Mongol's second place divison standing and improve their chances for a surprise wildcard.

Watdog's Japanese have become the Mighty Ducks of the league, slipping to a tough 0-5. However, legions of adoring fans feel they can turn things around with a strong showing next week against division leading India.

Russia, led by Jackoneill, takes their first victory this week with a win over Japan. This takes them out of a last place tie, and gives wildcard hope to another underdog civ.

This week the league says goodbye to former owner Steinbrenner Sevendust34, as well as GeddyGod and Chrono, who all had to bow out due to other obligations. We wish them the best, and welcome newcomer Danthechan who takes over as Egypt's ruler. We're still looking for a sub for Geddy's romans, a strong civ with a weak starting record. If no takers are found, we will rotate in players from the Southeast conference to lead the romans each week.

    ICL Week One Report

Well, it took awhile, but the ICL is finally off to an official start as week one is now in the books. What we saw was a bunch of quick games and a couple of really good games. There were no surprises as the Egyptians, Arabs and Greeks all won their games, respectively, and Division one got off to a fast start. That left the Romans, Germans and Russians scratching their heads as they were the victims of this initial onslaught. The good news is that division four is all tied up at 0-1. The English, Spanish and Indians were the other three winners for the first week. The upset of the week goes to the Greeks who took out the Germans. Week two should be an exciting week, featuring matches such as the Egyptians vs. the Greeks and the Romans vs. the Germans.

Here are the official results from week one:

    1. Egyptians defeat Russians
    2. Greek defeat Germans
    3. Arabs defeat Romans
    4. Spanish defeat Japanese
    5. English defeat Mongols
    6. Indians defeat French

    Week 2 Report

Week 2 is finally in the books. We had some great divisional games. Congratulations to the Greeks, Arabs, English and Spanish, as they are the remaining undefeated teams. Congratulation also to the Germans and Mongols, as they each received their first victory of the season. The upset of the week goes to the Mongols who beat the Japanese in a heated battle. Next week’s game of the week is the English versus the Germans

    Week 2 Power Rankings:

    1. Greeks (They have beaten the Germans and Egyptians, not to mention they are at the rule of Morte)
    2. English (2-0, with a 1-0 division record)
    3. Spanish (Victories over the Russians and Japanese show that they are consistent)
    4. Arabs (2-0 record and led by El Thrasher; this is a powerful civ, led by a gifted veteran)
    5. Mongols (defeated the high-teching Japanese)

    Oldbill,

I will be out of town for work until Thursday. We can play our week 6 game sometime after that if it is no problem.

I made it 30 years without flying but the streak ends tomorrow morning. Going to Georgia. Wish me luck everybody.

    upcoming games

I want to try to close out weeks 4 and 5. Urgent request - substitutes needed. Please PM me if you are willing to sub (either temporarily or permanently).

For week 4, Morte you need to play Thrash. I msg'ed you on XBL on this, I doubt this will be a problem.

I propose OldBIll sub as Romans for the week 4 game so danthechan (coolhandlewke) can get started as his egyptians. If OldBill can't I will do it (or if Mad or TyShine or Aheadatime another regular wants to jump in just say so, better if subs are from outside the league).

That would close out week four.

For week 5, danthechan you need to hunt down Ty's friend BlueKiller077 as spain. If you can play this game first before facing rome that's fine.

Also for week 5 Morte and Duke need to play. Again don't worry about order of week 4 vs 5 just get the game in and PM me the results.

Mawpawk, hunt down thrasher to see if you can keep your win streak up against the jihad and help close out week 5.

We need another sub for Rome on week 5 (Geddy against OldBill). I will do this for Geddy if no one else from outside the league or from the Southeast can do it. OldBill, if you see me on XBL feel free to msg me and we'll just get that over with. As rome we can find out if I really have figured out ancient expansion or not...

Thanks Watdog glad to try to help and move things along.

Great job FF-GTR!!! I knew I could count on you. Everything looks great - even better than before. Good luck to everyone. I will check back every now and then to see how things are going. Who knows, when I get my xbox fixed, maybe I will sign up to be a sub.

Yea, the way we have been doing it is you can go ahead and play your games from the next week or so. If you do, instead of posting the results PM them to FF and after he posts the previous weeks results And we have reached the week in question you can post the results in the thread.

Well, I hope I'll have time when you are on. Last week wasn't a good one I think, but I would like to play. However I still think it would be hard to connect (I really mean connect) to you.. I hope that will work.

I'll be back on the 27th. As for the actual connection, it should be okay. We used to have problems, but I've moved since then. Last time we played there was no trouble. My new connection is better.

Egyptians kicked Romes ass, started off with him getting collossus and me moving my settlers, I settled next to a barb with no money. Killed it, rushed some more warriors, found where spain was, sent a warrior army (now vet) to take out spain and I got my ☺☺☺☺ rocked 4.5-2 so with only like 40 gold I built 2 settlers, researched horseback riding I found an Egyptian horse and killed it with one of my scout warriors, I eventually made an army and it got screwed over by 1 spainiard archer, and then I got overhauled by an Egyptian horse army. Not a fun game but at least it doesn't count on my winning record, right? :P

with a slow start there wasn't much you could do. it put me in a 2 desert, 2 sea, spot and gave me the big guy (collosus). if you hadn't of killed that horse i would have come for you much sooner. i had kyoto in the other direction with a horse on patrol so i sent the reinforcements that way. lucky for me you didn't get nav to start your settler pump to the islands.

i am waiting on ty's friend to accept my fr. it looks like he hasn't been on in a few days.

Updated. South division continues to dominate.

I wish it had went on Bill's record! A roman loss is no help at all to mongols in their division!

I'm back and ready to get in some games. Unfortunately I have to go on a day trip on Saturday, so I can't play with Morte then. Do you have any kind of availability during the week, Morte? I can still be somewhat flexible. If not, let's try for Sunday. I'll probably be back too late for you on Saturday.

I have no idea when I'll be able to get my game in with Morte. My play has been limited lately due to grad school and work. The only time I really have available to play happens to be the middle of the night in Italy.

TyShine - if you see Morte online, go ahead and play him for me. I know you said you wanted to play his Greeks anyways.
