You know your not a mobster in L A noire right... I don't think you can even compare the two games. Plus rockstar can't write a good story to save there life. Look at GTA IV. Great example of a great game with good free roam and plenty of things to do in the world. But the storyline was weak as hell

The story in GTA 4 is better than the one currently in Mafia 2. By a long shot.

I myself looooved GTA IV as a game, but the story felt a bit...i dunno...odd i guess, but i did inmerse with the characters alot more than i did in Mafia II, going out with Jacob reeeally made me like that rasta, besides, you might not get to make many decitions in GTA IV but at least the player has some control over story itself by those decitions, but a good thing about GTA IV is...they didn't take anything from their final product, instead they added as much as they could, just to later add a massive DLC which was completly worth gettin, but other than that, the story seemed like a script made in about 10 days...it was too much "kill this, fix the problem" "kill those, get the money" and so on, but in the end, it's not so different than Mafia II, really, at the end both Niko & Vito end up struggling for and against all crime organizations in their respective cities..OH! and did anyone notice how both Niko & Vito start with the same jacket? well, it's almost the same.

I love how you talk as if I have never played any other GTA Games other than IV and I'm not comparing GTA IV to their previous titles. All I'm saying is GTA IV had a beautiful city as well as plenty of things you could do in that city.

Actually its quite to opposite, i play San Andreas and Vice City alot more than GTA IV, infact i havent played GTA IV for around 8 months now. You can beat San Andreas though, amazing free-roam, jet packs, airfield, area 69 and most of all the huge map. Now thats a game with plenty to do in it, GTA IV theres nothing like that, nothing.

I disagree there. Mafia 2 has great voice acting and a good, immersive story at least.

I love GTA IV, have both episodes and played through them all. But the stories are weak as fuc*.

They have much better character development, banter etc than Mafia 2. Maybe if the game featured all of the intented story branches and plot points I'd agree with you, but currently, no way.

Guess we have to agree to disagree. Anyway, R* probably won't release it for the PC anyway so I couldn't care less. If they do though, and it ISN'T a crapfest console port.. Then I'm definitely interested.

Case in point; GTA IV. I can just now after my latest PC upgrade (i7 930 3,5ghz GTX 470 clocked to 480 speeds) play GTA IV on max settings (with a stable 55ish fps). Game was released in 2008, and at the time was considered to have god-like system req's. Game itself is great, not as good as SA but definitely very solid. But it's one of the most un-optimized console ports I've ever seen.

For a comparison - I can run Mafia II on max settings with PhysX on High (removed ped clothing only). 60 fps constant, not sure how high it really is but suffice it to say it's far better optimized.

Agreed. I could really relate to Niko, even though I was never "fresh of the boat." His emotions and aspirations - to be something of himself and to succeed against high odds- is an aspiration shared by almost everyone. The few betrayals in the game were more hard-hitting than those in Mafia II, because it was almost expected for Vito to get betrayed. Vito was just an average rag-doll who let himself be used by everyone and anyone. He was not just an anti-hero, but a sad, petty and worthless one. The plot in Mafia II was not only muddled with an unintelligible web of betrayal, but it was also worsened by an awful protagonist.

EDIT: Also, I'm wondering how you found out about that game. (LA Noir, I mean).

A game we have seen very little about will be what Mafia 2 should have been. It's just too obvious.

funny thing is, until like 2 weeks ago, L.A. noir wasn't even an option for me. i had much hope for mafia II to overshadow already existing open world games... more like unopen world, now. gonna see what R* does with this, wait before i spend my money again and listen to some of your guys impressions

At the end of the trialer:

"This product is not yet rated."

LA Noire looks interesting to say the least and its not being d..developed by R*? That increases its chances of not being another retarded kiddie g..game like GTA.

    jesus another comparing?

At least all RockStar games are completed.

    All Rockstar games are sandboxes

All RockStar games, selling like hotcakes.

according most Mafia 2 gamers, Mafia 2 game is cutup in a dozen of DLC.

M2, not sandbox, but cinematic ending.

do i have to go on with more comparing?

If Mafia 2 were made by Bioware, it'd be the second best game ever (nothing will ever beat Mass Effect).

I'm going to get it, but it does look a little dated. Still will be interesting to be on the other side of the law....

Are the cars licnesed? They're closed to real life then most games:

Real Life vs. LA Noire vs. Mafia II

There wouldn't be any license trouble with the Hudsons, Nash, and Tucker seen thus far but Ford wouldn't let them off with a Continental for cheap..

EDIT: It would also appear this game is more car cultured then Mafia II; it had a Studebaker.
    Screen - Real

GTA sucks, period. If you people were truthful you'd admit that you only play them because they have free roam sandboxes. No GTA 'fan' I've ever watched play actually plays much of the missions. Sure, they do them eventually, but the majority of the time spent playing the game is spent f'n around doing random things in the city. That doesn't = a good game.

As far as this game goes, looks similar to Mafia 2 in terms of style and obviously the setting. Maybe this is why 2K cut a lot of stuff out in order to get their 1950's game out on the market before this one - that way they don't look like copy cats.

You really need to change the title of this thread.

The reason it got 811 views is because 800 pirates thought it was Reloa*** Proper.

At least Rockstar got the street dimensions right, Empire Bay feels tight like a smalltown. And I would not rest and stare from the roof after I kicked someone to death ...

I wouldn't say Rockstar couldn't write a story to save their lives.

In my opinion, Red Dead's story is easily better than Mafia 2's

L.A. Noire is promising and all but it keeps getting delayed and delayed and delayed and thats not a good sign, without forgetting how little we know of the game.

I bought GTA to play through the story, I don't buy games just to 'f around'.

I wouldn't go as far as to call it another DNF, but L.A. Noire first been announced in 2oo5 as a PS3 exclusive, until Rockstar picked up the publishing rights the year after. It was first suppose to come out on October 31 2o1o now its been pushed back to the first quarter of 2o11, usually games that keeps getting pushed back end up cancelling, i do hope it won't happen to L.A. Noire but these delays are worrying.
