Thread: Empire Race Track?

    Empire Race Track?

The picture of the Empire Bay map on this page with all the writing on it shows "Empire Race Track - 5 Miles".

Since they said the map would be 10 sq miles, but the actual city size is around 4 sq miles, maybe there's another 5-6 sq miles of countryside they're working on and a racetrack too?

I really hope they make a large coutryside with a racetrack and release it as DLC (and add some more missions for Vito).

Yeah, I've wondered about that race track too. I highly doubt we'll ever get to know anything more about it though.
Personally, I hated the racing mission in Mafia I, so I really don't care about the race track, but some countryside would be truly great imo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 50's the birth of NASCAR? That would be pretty cool if there was some Super-Speedway in the country waiting for a DLC to unlock it.

Watching a bunch of tuned Potomac's, Shubert's, and Smith's race around in an oval would be awesome. Wait for the crashes...

Imagine Nascar in Mafia 2 but Online.

    Amazing, period.

It began as beach/dirt racing in the 40s in the Southeast, so close enough time period-wise. But NASCAR in general stuck to dirt ovals till the late 50s/60s. I doubt EB would have a speedway. Maybe a road course, with road racing more likely. Why?

Because NASCAR was dwarfed by road racing in the 50s, it was mainly a Southern sport

Almost certainly that picture refers to a Horse racing track. The area nearby where the arrow points, is a horse stable and horse racing area if you've been there (hopping the fence.) Also 5 miles is the length of a horse track. The biggest Nascar track is only 2.66miles (Talledega)

But i really think this is a great idea, some kind of automobile racing tie-in.

I'm getting the feeling the cut out all the interesting locations in the game to charge you for them... there are hardly any decent landmarks in the game currently.

That map is so much better than the crap one we got in game. Why did they take the original, hand written style of Mafia 1 and turn it into the dumb arcade icons we have in Mafia 2? Clearly they had the handwritten style before, why replace it?

In Joes DLC there are supposedly new areas of the map that we haven't been able to go previously, so maybe that will be part of it. Pretty lame to DLC it, but we've already had that discussion..

Yes it does have a few new spots, but what is becoming more and more apparent, other than the 800lb gorilla in the room, is that these locations need to start being unlocked and open in freeride, which brings another point that we need a pure freeride mode. Not just Jimmy, but a selection of characters, as well as time period, weather, and day night cycle options.

NASCAR can trace it's roots back to Prohibition tuning motors to outrun the cop cars of the day bootlegging is still commonplace because some counties in some states are known as "dry" counties which means alcohol is banned from being sold. also due to some illegal beverages like "White Lightning"
