Going to try playing Hard with No VitaChambers... tips, suggestions?

I finished this in Bioshock (Original) and got a Big Brass Balls achievement, so I think Bioshock 2 I can pull it off... any tips? Only thing I'm worried about is the Big Sister, I'm worried she's gonna dominate me.

to be honest it is way easier and for the big sister just harvest or save the last little sister in the level near a good defense spot
ex.in paupers drop market there is a rocket turret and camera that help alot

It's easy to do. The only big sister fight I found difficult was the first.
Even the last sister(s) was too easy.

Just make sure to use the vents nearest to a spot that easy to defend (turrets/cameras ect), set lots of traps and make sure you have plenty of health kits and eve.
Also fully upgrade shotgun still takes down the Big Sister quite easy. Just try and keep her stunned.

Winter Blast worked best for me against her in the later levels. And as others have said use rooms with lots of hacked turrets and cameras.

The Big Sister's aren't that bad once you know how to deal with them just constantly save before any major fights or events so if you die you can just go back and do it over all it shouldn't be that bad I mean I did medium and no vita's and then did hard and only died like once so I mean not really that bad .

Bioshock 2 is much easier, I don't think it has to be on hard, just complete it without dying!

its really not hard at all even survivor on the first bioshock was not hard. Main thing to do at all times when you know you will be swarmed with enemies or big daddys spam trap rivets and proxy mines.

Other than that save game is very easy and also remember to use turrets they help alot against big daddys and sisters

I'm playing through on medium right now and have put a huge emphasis on research this time around: it's made a big impact. I put Keen Observer (both) at the top of my 'acquire and slice ASAP' list and walked around with the video camera ready at all times. Damage Research tonic also was important.

I botched my plan a tad when I finished out Pauper's Drop with still a hair's width of progress bar left to complete Brute research, but otherwise I'm at Fontaine Futuristics at this point (about to collect my 3rd Adam-infused plant) and I've got all my research completed along with the tonics that I've been rewarded with.
The additional abilities and tonics that come with completion of research cannot be understated.

At this point I've upgraded Electro Bolt to the highest level, have spliced Drill Power 1 & 2, Drill Specialist, Drill Vampire, Freezing Drill, Electrical Storm, Electric Flesh, Elemental Storm (Electric Flesh specifically to enhance Electric Storm and Elemental Storm), Drill Lurker, and a host of others that complement a gunless attack strategy.
When it comes to any challenging enemy such as the pair of Big Sisters that you encounter just before being let into the chamber where Eleanor is being held hostage, you simply flow a constant Electro Bolt current into both of them simultaneously (they'll both drop from the ceiling standing conveniently next to each other if you back away straight back from the door to the chamber) as you spin your powered up drill till they expire.
Just make sure your drill has been fully powered up via Power the the People visits and top off your Eve and Drill Fuel supplies before starting this fight.

And one extra part of my plan to deal with splicers that attack from afar (Houdinis or Lead Heads) is to get Telekinesis 3 so you can remotely grab and hold the offender while you give 2 quick drill swipes to their cranium.

I just finished the game on hard last night with vita chambers off (my second play-through, the first was on normal). For the last double big sister fight here is what I did (since I knew it was coming so I could prepare):

    1. Placed 2 oxygen containers on either side of the pond and stuck 6 proximity mines on each (you can use telekinesis to carry them then just press square or switch weapon to make it drop without throwing and exploding it). There are two in the room at the sides, just carry them to the middle.

    2. Setup a bunch of cyclone traps (#2) inside the pond charged with electro-bolt3

    3. Placed a lot of trap rivets on the columns at head-height so that their lines cover the whole area

    4. setup some wire-traps between the columns too

    5. set my plasmid to Scout and then activated the switch, while Sofia was talking I ran down to the entrance door where I came in and put up a couple of mini-turrets out, then activated the Scout - also had NC tonic so my main body could turn invisible while I am using the scout. With the scout I ran up to the pond and placed a Decoy3 (target dummy) in the middle of the pond where my cyclone traps were.

    6. This is when the BSs arrived, they went straight into my traps, the two major explosions plus trap took out one of them while I was releasing some bees. Then I have thrown some incinerate3 on the remaining one, then got out of scout and started shooting some heat seeking grenades. The fight was over pretty quick and easy, I barely lost any health, did not need to use any FAK even though I had 5.

Overall, the whole game was easier to beat on hard than BS1 was.

Depends, have you saved the game at all? If you have, your last save is where you'll start at. If you haven't...well have fun starting over

If you really suck at playing bioshock 2 or just want the trophy real bad, check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfd7QATPgRs

Note: It completley destroys the fun of having a chalange.

all the strategies suggested here are solid but WAY overcomplicated.

equip winter blast and upgrade it as soon as you can.
equip these tonic: drill dash, drill specialist, sharp drill (or whatever it's called, basically dril damage increase) 1 and 2, and later on drill vampire.
when confronting EVERY opponent do this: winter blast, drill dash, then hold RT/R2 until the drill drains the opponent's last drop of health. freeze when needed to keep them stuck. granted you'll take down a big sister in a matter of seconds.

in addition, use a mini turret if you're fighting a lot of enemies together.

cheaper and faster way, you'll only spend money on drill fuel and eve. and more important, you won't die a single time.

A cheap way of getting the trophy/acheivment is that you dont even have to beat it on hard without dying. You can comeplete it on easy and get the trophy/acheivment. But that is not really that fun.

Except for your choice of plasmid and throwing in the mini-turrets we've basically prescribed the same plan, no?
