    Think about it from his point of view. Wouldn't you want to die after seeing your life's work fall apart because of hthe very thing he made it for. That, and he probably wisened up about Fontaine controlling the main character.

    Okay, I think I just read the scene as well as the character wrong. I thought Ryan was more of a "go down with the ship" type of guy.

    It makes much more sense now. Thank you.
