Exclamation I don't Adam and Eve it!

More confusion emerges now, as to how Adam may be aquired in Bioshock.Initially we've been led to believe that the only way to get this was from the LS-Now it appears that it may be obtained by converting inventory items? Anybody got thoughts on this new twist?

I think that there will be ADAM "all over the place" if IG didn't move away from what they showed in the 1st walkthrough.

That was a very early walkthrough, they then announced the only way to obtain it would be from the LS.

This isn’t confusion, as AlexxKay mentioned this as a “recycler” type gimmick a ways back.

You have to think immediately back to SS2. What did they have that converted inventory objects into nanites? The Recycler. What was your return for recycling the items? Very small, but could work if you needed them in a pinch. The way it’s worded “a conservative but non-life-threatening path” sounds very much like you get a pittance return of Adam for odd objects.

More and more Bioshock media is uncovering counterparts of mechanisms and items that were a part of the SS2 universe. Spiritual successor indeed

Then why make the sweeping statement about the Adam retrevial in the first place?-Sorry,but this game is ripe with contradiction.

Honestly, I had just forgot about the Recycler until the mag jogged my memory. You're right, there's contradiction in regards to Adam availability. Heck I wouldn't be amazed if the final game ships with Adam found in cash registers.

As long as Irrational does not contradict too often, making us fanboys look like speculative buffoons. I trust them to own up eventually, 'specially when the NDA is over.

Think about how we found nanites in SS2. Wasn't it purely by two routes: searching bodies/caches & recycling? One was 95% more lucrative than the other.

Do you know Raveness,I honestly thought you were gonna tear me to pieces for saying that! I like it when you surprise me,people dont do it often enough!
To get back on topic,I think theres been a lot of internal bickering about Adam collection amongst the team at IG,which is why we keep hearing different slants on the topic, and lets be honest its a pretty major point-now once again that awful moral choice seems to have been rescinded, and we have other options.

Right, but I compare BS Adam with the SS2 Cybernetic Modules since you would find them on the dead bodies or Polito (Shodam) uploaded them to your "interface".

You're completely speculating on those points, and whats with the melodrama? I don't see this extra option reducing the moral choice if it results in only a pittance of Adam. We're probably going to get a cup of coffees worth out of inventory items, not a truckload like through harvesting or a grocery bags worth when befriending any LS.

Now if you actually wanted to, I'm betting you could spend a significant part of the 40 thousand hours trying to convert every knicknack you pick up. Perhaps there is a "Garbageman" style of play hidden. There could be a third option when confronting Little Sister:

    1. Save Little Sister
    2. Harvest Adam from Little Sister
    3. Ask Little Sister to empty her pockets

Wait a second. All of this Adam and Eve stuff has (once again) blown my mind. Eve is for regenerationg "powers" right? And since Adam isn't currency anymore... what does it do? If I recall... it lets you get more powers right? Could someone tell me where to find these answers? I have gotten in so deep now, that when I start playing the game, I'll be going on false information

No worries Dude! As you rightly say Eve powers up the Plasmids,Adam is used for character growth, upgrading the plasmids and weapons ect

I'm sure vending machines will be suing the dollar currency in rapture now, since Adam is no longer considered currency.

  18. #18
Are we sure that Adam is "no longer considered currency," or is this just a Holmes-like deduction possibly built upon follies and misunderstandings? What I'm asking is: was it stated by the Powers-That-Be in such a direct manner?

Yes, but I can't remember in what resource it was stated.

(*for the love of kljasdfaslifd, I can't even seem to clear the "new messages" forum icon from this section anymore..., sort-of seeing if editing the last post here is gonna do something)

Hmm, interesting. I guess its a alright change. But that makes me wonder if stuff like the security stations can still be used with a cost, and if so whether that is still adam or not.

Why would we want the money where the $2 coin is smaller than the $1 coin?

"Dollars"? A former Soviet citizen builds a majestic city in the bottom of the ocean and names the currency "dollars"? Couldn't he have come up with something more original? Or do we simply assume they are "Rapture Dollars" (RD)?

My proposals for the currency's name:

    -Ryans
    -Rands
    -Oceans
    -Opportunities (colloquially "Ops")

Firstly, Aussie money is plastic and therefore aussie's cannot be trusted.

Secondly, I think the idea of dollars in rapture was because it would've been easy to adapt, the citizens had bigger things to worry about than the exact specifications of their currency, so adopting and adapting a current currency would make sense.

oh and it could be Sand Dollars. (how was that overlooked? you crazy folks )

your money is plastic, that's insanity! I like the concept really but ""paper"" money is the norm, so to speak, so having plastic money means you're not normal, which means your odd, which means you can't be trusted. (<3 anyway though)
