You have to be kidding ME!! Please tell me theres a way to save a game rather than going to sleep to start a new damn chapter. Thats a BASIC FEATURE in any game.

nope, the "save system" is passing a checkpoint or completing the Chapter
Why? What would you want to save that checkpoints don't save. Its not like you can really do much outside of the main story
But there isn't a real point to it.
Jdwarfer basically summed it up for me.
EDIT: but this is not a free roam game, even though there is an open world that teases you. It is a LINEAR game, and thus doesn't need a saving system.
So what ? I don't see the problem with checkpoint saves in this game.
It's well done. You don't have to retry at the begining of a chapter.
You're just frustrated because you don't have the control, is that it ? You want to decide when to save. I understand that but for a game like Mafia 2 it's not needed.
We understand, but we disagree.
Then you have to save at the end of the day. That is what happens.
Being linear is not basic.
"Regular saving points" are only in free roam games, and this is not one. Therefore, he expected it to be a free-roaming game, like GTA.
They could have made it so you did have a choice to just save or save and start new chapter when you go to bed, but you should not be able to save during a mission.
In this way every one is satisfied, the players who just run trough the game and we who love to explore the game to its fullest.
I used GTA as an example because it is the most popular free roaming game. Name a linear game like Mafia 2 that uses save points that you want.
